This document describes the OREI HDMI 1x8 Splitter over CAT6 (70m), a device designed to distribute a single HDMI source signal to up to eight display devices.
Function Description
The OREI HDMI 1x8 Splitter takes one HDMI input and provides one HDMI loop output and eight CAT outputs. This allows for the distribution of a single HDMI signal to multiple displays, extending the transmission distance significantly over CAT6 cable. The device supports one-way IR control signal pass-through, enabling remote control of the source device from the display locations. It also incorporates advanced EDID management and supports a one-way Power over Cable (POC) function, where the transmitter powers the receivers.
The splitter unit, referred to as the "Transmitter," features:
- POWER LED (Red): Illuminates when the transmitter is powered on.
- CAT OUT (1-8): Eight RJ45 ports for connecting to CAT Receivers using CAT6 cables.
- Power LED (Green): Illuminates when the transmitter supplies power to a receiver via a CAT cable, indicating POC function.
- Data Signal Indicator (Yellow):
- Illuminating: HDMI signal with HDCP.
- Flashing: HDMI signal without HDCP.
- Dark: No HDMI signal.
- HDMI OUT: An HDMI loop output port for connecting to a local HDMI display device (e.g., TV or monitor).
- HDMI IN: An HDMI input port for connecting to the HDMI source device (e.g., DVD player, set-top box).
- IR OUT: A 3.5mm stereo mini-jack for connecting an IR blaster cable. This port transmits IR signals received from the "IR IN" port of the receivers back to the source device.
- EDID DIP Switch (4-pin): Used to set various EDID modes, allowing for flexible resolution and audio format management.
- UPDATE (Micro USB): A mini USB port for connecting to a PC for firmware updates.
- DC 12V: Power input port.
- POWER Switch: A toggle switch to power the device on or off.
The "CAT Receiver" units, designed to be placed at each display location, feature:
- HDMI OUT: An HDMI signal output port for connecting to an HDMI display device (e.g., HDTV).
- IR IN: A 3.5mm stereo mini-jack for connecting an IR receiver cable. This port receives IR signals from a remote control and transmits them back to the transmitter's "IR OUT" port.
- CAT: An RJ45 input port for connecting to one of the CAT output ports on the transmitter via a CAT6 cable.
- Power LED (Green): Illuminates when the receiver is powered on. Since the device supports POC, the receiver is typically powered by the transmitter through the CAT cable.
- Data Signal Indicator (Yellow):
- Illuminating: HDMI signal with HDCP.
- Flashing: HDMI signal without HDCP.
- Dark: No HDMI signal.

Usage Features
- Easy Installation: Compact design for flexible installation. The package includes mounting ears and screws for secure placement.
- Long-Distance Transmission: Extends HDMI signals up to 70 meters (230ft) for 1080p@60Hz or 40 meters (131ft) for 4K30Hz using a single CAT6 cable, making it suitable for large-scale AV distribution.
- HDMI Loop Output: Provides a local HDMI output on the transmitter for monitoring or connecting an additional display near the source.
- Power over Cable (POC): Simplifies installation by allowing the transmitter to power all eight receivers through the CAT6 cables, eliminating the need for separate power adapters at each display location.
- IR Control Pass-through: Supports wideband IR (20KHz-60KHz) for controlling the HDMI source device from any of the remote display locations. An IR receiver cable is connected to the receiver's IR IN port, and an IR blaster cable is connected to the transmitter's IR OUT port, enabling seamless remote control.
