This document serves as a comprehensive display manual for Reid electric bicycles, specifically covering the Blacktop 2.0, E-trail 2.0, and Quest 2.0 models. It details the functionality, operation, and maintenance of the LED instrument display, which is designed to enhance the user experience by providing essential riding information and control over various e-bike features.

The display unit, identified as model D19 C5B/U5B C, is characterized by its simple structure and exquisite appearance, featuring an ultra-high contrast LED screen that ensures readability in various outdoor conditions. Its robust design boasts an IP65 waterproof rating, making it suitable for diverse weather environments. The display supports both CANBUS and UART communication protocols, offering flexibility in integration with different e-bike systems. An optional Bluetooth function further extends its capabilities, allowing for connectivity with mobile applications for enhanced control and data management.

Function Description

The primary function of the display is to provide real-time riding data and allow the user to control the e-bike's power-assisted features. Key information displayed includes:

  • Power Assisted Gear: The display shows the current power assistance level, ranging from 0 (no assistance) to 5. The system defaults to Level 1 upon startup.
  • Real-time Speed: The current cycling speed is displayed in either kilometers per hour (km/h) or miles per hour (mph), depending on the user's unit setting.
  • Trip Distance (TRIP): This indicates the distance covered during the current ride, with a maximum display value of 999.9.
  • Total Distance (ODO): The odometer records the total distance the bicycle has traveled.
  • Battery Power Indicator: The display provides a visual representation of the battery's charge level through a series of divisions. In systems with battery communication, it can also show the battery's State of Charge (SOC) as a percentage. An undervoltage status is indicated by a flashing battery box.
  • Headlight Indication: An icon illuminates when the headlight is turned on, provided the controller supports this function.
  • Assisted Running Mode: This feature allows for power assistance while walking alongside the bike.
  • Fault Code Indication: The display provides prompts and warnings for any detected system faults, showing specific error codes to aid in troubleshooting.

Usage Features

The display is designed for intuitive operation through a set of three buttons: a Sleep/Wakeup button (also serving as the Mode button) and "+" and "-" buttons for adjustments.

  • Sleep/Wakeup: Pressing and holding the Sleep/Wakeup button for 1.5 seconds wakes the display from sleep mode, bringing up the basic interface. Holding it for 2 seconds in the power-on state will power off the product.
  • Power Assisted Level Change: The "+" and "-" buttons are used to cycle through the five power-assisted levels (0-5).
  • Viewing Riding Data: The Power button allows users to cycle through different functional interfaces, including cycling time, trip distance, total distance (ODO), and battery SOC.
  • Power Assisted Running Mode: By pressing and holding the "-" button for 2 seconds, users can activate the power-assisted running mode, which provides assistance for walking the bike. Releasing the button exits this mode.
  • Headlight Control: Pressing and holding the "+" button for 2 seconds toggles the headlight on or off. When the headlight is on, the display's overall LED brightness automatically drops, returning to normal when the headlight is off.

Users are cautioned against excessive tightening torque to prevent product damage. The 5-pin connector ensures a straightforward connection to the controller.
  • Wiring Definition: A detailed wiring diagram is provided, outlining the pin assignments and color codes for the JULET JL-F-Z509AG connector, which facilitates proper connection and troubleshooting of wiring issues.
  • Fault Code Interpretation: The manual includes comprehensive lists of UART and CANBUS error code definitions. Each code is accompanied by a description of the fault and recommended troubleshooting steps, such as restarting the system, checking cable connections, or replacing components. This feature is crucial for diagnosing and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Precautions: Users are advised to prioritize safety during operation, avoiding plugging or unplugging the instrument while powered on. Minimizing exposure to harsh environments like heavy rain, snow, or direct sunlight is recommended to prolong the device's lifespan. In case of malfunctions, users are instructed to send the instrument for repair.
  • Quality Commitment and Warranty: The product comes with a 30-month warranty from the date of production, covering faults arising from quality problems under normal operation. However, the warranty explicitly excludes damage from unauthorized disassembly, incorrect operation, casing scratches, lead wire damage, force majeure events, or expired warranty periods.
