Overview

This document outlines the features and specifications of an e-bike display, designed to provide riders with essential information and control over their electric bicycle. The display is a combination of a mental bottom base and a glass cover, ensuring durability and a clear interface. It is designed to operate within a temperature range of -20°C to 60°C.

Function Description

The display serves as the central interface for monitoring and controlling various aspects of the e-bike. It shows a range of information including:

  • Battery capacity: Indicated by a 5-section icon, with the last section flashing to warn of low battery and prompt recharging.
  • Speed: Displays current speed in either Km/h or MPH.
  • Miles: Tracks both single trip distance and total distance (ODO).
  • Single trip riding period: Measures the duration of individual rides.
  • Pas level: Shows the current pedal-assist level, ranging from 0 to 5, with 5 being the maximum. The default starting PAS level is 1.
  • Light on/off: Indicates whether the bike's lights are on or off.
  • Walking assistant: Activates a low-speed assist function for walking alongside the bike.
  • Error code: Displays specific codes to indicate system malfunctions.
  • Riding mode: Shows the current riding mode, which can be changed between T (Customized), E (Eco), and T (Tour) modes. Some versions may not include all riding modes.

The display also allows for parameter adjustments, including:

  • Wheel size: Configurable to match various wheel sizes (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 700C, 28, and 29 inches).
  • Speed limitation: Allows users to set a maximum assisted speed between 12 Km/h and 40 Km/h, with a default of 25 Km/h. The system will stop assisting if this limit is exceeded.
  • Backlight brightness: Adjustable to three levels (1-low, 2-middle, 3-high), with 1 as the default.
  • PAS level settings: Configurable PAS ranging options (0-3, 1-3, 0-5, 1-5, 0-7, 1-7, 0-9, and 1-9), with 0-5 as the default.
  • PAS default data: Sets the default PAS level (0, 1, 2, or 3), with 1 as the default.
  • Unit: Toggles between metric (Km/h) and imperial (MPH) units.
  • Light sensor: Adjusts the sensitivity of the light sensor for automatic light activation. A higher "P" value indicates less sensitivity, requiring less ambient light to turn on the lights.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Display Type: LCD
  • Support: 0-5 (likely referring to PAS levels or general system compatibility)
  • Normal Voltage: 24V / 36V / 48V (UART communication protocol)
  • Modes Cover: Black/White
  • Colour: Black/White
  • Size (LWH): 65.4mm * 63.5mm * 15.5mm
  • Operating Temperature: -20°C to 60°C

Usage Features

The display is operated via a remote support with several buttons:

  • Power button:
    • Pressing for over 3 seconds turns the system on or off.
    • A single click cycles through different display contents (current speed, total distance, average speed, single trip distance, max speed, single trip period).
    • Used to save changes and enter the next setting during configuration.
  • Adding (+) button:
    • Increases the PAS level.
    • Adjusts values in settings menus (e.g., backlight brightness, wheel size, speed limit, unit, PAS settings, PAS default value).
    • Long pressing with the minus button enters setting mode 1 or setting mode 2.
  • Minus (-) button:
    • Decreases the PAS level.
    • Adjusts values in settings menus.
    • Long pressing with the adding button enters setting mode 1 or setting mode 2.
  • Light (D) button:
    • Long pressing turns the bike's lights on or off.
    • Resets single trip distance and time period.
    • Long pressing can turn off the auto-adjust brightness function; restarting the system will re-enable it.
  • Walking assistant (A) button:
    • Long pressing activates the walking assistant function.
    • Changes riding modes (T, E, T).

Installation: The product should be fixed on the handlebar, and the cable connected properly. It is crucial not to connect the cable when the battery is on. Care must be taken when locking the remote support, as it can be easily broken if overtightened.

Setting Modes:

  • Setting Mode 1: Accessed by long pressing the "adding" and "minus" buttons when the speed is 0. Allows adjustment of backlight brightness, wheel size, and metric-inch conversion.
  • Setting Mode 2: Accessed by long pressing the "adding" and "minus" buttons again immediately after entering setting mode 1. Allows adjustment of PAS level, default PAS, and light sensor.

Maintenance Features

The display provides error codes to assist in troubleshooting:

  • Code 21 (Abnormal Current): Suggests restarting the system or contacting the supplier.
  • Code 22 (Throttle Error): Requires checking if the brake is recovered before the system is on.
  • Code 24 (HALL signal Error): Advise checking the power cable or contacting the supplier.
  • Code 25 (Brake Error): Instructs checking the brake before switching on.
  • Code 28 (Other Errors): Recommends restarting, upgrading the program, or replacing the controller.
  • Code 30 (Abnormal Communication): Indicates a need to check the display connection.
  • Code 31 (ON/OFF button stuck): Suggests checking the keys or replacing the display.
  • Code 32 (Abnormal work voltage): Requires replacing the display.
  • Code 33 (Self-check failure): Requires replacing the display.
  • Code 34 (WALK button stuck): Suggests checking the keys or replacing the display.

These error codes help users or technicians identify and address potential issues with the e-bike system, facilitating maintenance and repair.
