The Remington Airetrex 365 Home Air Sanitizer is a device designed to improve indoor air quality by sanitizing the air in homes, offices, nurseries, and dorm rooms. It utilizes ultra-violet (UV-C) light, which is routinely used as a disinfectant, to help create a safe environment by reducing contaminants including allergens, bacteria, germs, mold spores, and viruses.
The device is intended for general ventilating use only and should not be used to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors. It is designed for indoor use only and should always be used on a dry, level surface. The Airetrex 365 is a fan, not a toy, and should not be played with or placed where small children can reach it.
Function Description:
The Remington Airetrex 365 operates by drawing in air and passing it through a system that includes a UV-C bulb and an air filter. The UV-C light works to neutralize airborne contaminants, while the air filter helps to capture particles. This dual-action approach aims to provide a comprehensive air sanitization solution for various indoor spaces. The unit is designed to operate quietly in the background, minimizing disruption to daily activities.
Usage Features:
The Airetrex 365 features a user-friendly control panel and digital display for easy operation. To begin, the unit must be plugged into an electrical outlet, and the power switch on the back of the unit must be turned to the ON position. The device is then turned on by pressing the on/off button on the control panel.
Users can select between two fan speeds: F1 for high fan speed and F2 for low fan speed, by pressing the mode button. The chosen fan speed will be indicated on the digital display. The UV bulb illuminates approximately 30 seconds after the unit is turned on. The digital display will auto-dim 30 seconds after the last button is pressed to conserve energy and reduce light pollution.
A delayed-off timer function allows users to set the unit to power off automatically after a specified period. When the unit is on, pressing the timer button changes the display to the hour option. Users can then use the up or down arrow buttons to select a duration between 0 and 12 hours, in 1-hour increments.
Conversely, a delayed-on timer function can be set when the unit is off. Pressing the timer button will again bring up the hour option, allowing users to select a time between 0 and 12 hours for the unit to power on automatically.
For households with children, a child lock function is available. This feature can be activated by pressing and holding the child lock button for 3 seconds. A beep will confirm that the controls are locked, and the child lock icon will illuminate, preventing accidental changes to settings. To unlock, the child lock button must be pressed and held again for 3 seconds until a beep is heard, restoring full functionality to the control panel.
The device also allows users to check the UV light usage time. When the unit is on, pressing the up and down arrow buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds will display the hours the UV light has operated. The display uses a code, where "01" represents 100 hours, "02" represents 200 hours, and so on.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure the Airetrex 365 operates at peak efficiency. Before any maintenance, the unit must be turned off and unplugged from the electrical outlet.
For general cleaning, a soft, damp cloth with a mild detergent can be used to wipe down the unit. After cleaning, the unit should be dried with a soft cloth and allowed to be completely dry before subsequent use.
The air filter should be checked monthly. Any dust buildup can be removed by vacuuming the filter. The air filter is replaceable, and Remington recommends replacing it with a genuine Remington Replacement Air Filter (REM-UVFILTER-106A). To replace the filter, the 4 thumb screws securing it should be removed, either by hand or with a flat head screwdriver. After removing the old filter, the area around the filter opening and the filter bracket should be cleaned with a damp cloth. The new replacement filter is then placed into the bracket and secured with the 4 thumb screws.
The UV-C bulb is also a replaceable component. Remington recommends replacing the bulb every 8000 hours of operation or every two years to maintain optimal product efficiency. The replacement bulb kit is REM-UVBULB-106A. Before replacing the UV-C bulb, it is essential to ensure the power has been disconnected for at least 15 minutes. The unit should be rotated to face its backside. The 5 screws on the left-hand side panel (when facing the back) are removed, and the panel is slid off to expose the bulb harness. Four screws on a smaller aluminum panel are unscrewed, and this panel is slid up and removed. The two screws securing the bulb are then removed, and the bulb harness and base are gently pulled out. The old bulb is pulled out of its holder and replaced with the new REM-UVBULB-106A, ensuring the four prongs align correctly before pushing it into the holder. The bulb and base are then inserted back into the unit, secured with the two screws, and finally, the side panel is replaced and secured with its five screws. After replacing the UV bulb, the UV light usage time should be reset by pressing and holding the mode button and timer button simultaneously for 3 seconds.
It is important to note that UV light is harmful to bare skin and eyes and can cause temporary or complete loss of vision. Users should never look directly at the UV bulb while it is illuminated. Used bulbs containing mercury must be disposed of in accordance with hazardous waste disposal or recycling laws and regulations of the state.
The device is designed for easy troubleshooting. If the digital display does not light, users should check if the unit is plugged in and if the power switch on the back is turned on. If buttons on the control panel are unresponsive, it could be due to the child lock being engaged, the unit being off, or another technical issue. If the unit makes a whistling noise, the air intake filter may be blocked or dirty. If the bulb no longer illuminates, it likely needs replacing. For any persistent problems, users are advised to contact customer service.
