Overview

The Remington G4 Graphite Series Personal Groomer (PG4000, Type No. PG04A) is a versatile grooming tool designed for personal hair removal and styling. This device can be used cordlessly, powered by its internal rechargeable battery, or corded, by connecting it to the charging adapter and then to the mains power supply. The ability to operate corded is particularly useful if the rechargeable battery lacks sufficient charge. However, frequent cordless use may reduce the rechargeable battery's lifespan.

Function Description:

The G4 Graphite Series Personal Groomer is engineered to provide a comprehensive grooming experience, offering various attachments for different hair removal and styling needs across the face and body. Its primary function is to trim, shave, and detail hair, allowing users to achieve a range of looks from a clean shave to a styled beard or maintained body hair.

Usage Features:

The groomer comes with several attachments and features to cater to diverse grooming requirements:

  • On/Off Switch: A simple switch to power the device on or off.
  • Charging Indicator Light: Illuminates during charging and turns off when charging is complete, providing clear status feedback.
  • Charging Connector: The port where the charging adapter connects to the device.
  • Wide Trimmer: This is the primary trimming attachment, suitable for general hair removal and shaping. It can be used with fixed guide combs or an adjustable comb.
  • Adjustable Comb: Designed to be used with the wide trimmer, this comb allows for precise control over hair length. It features a scale on the side of the trimmer to indicate the length of cut. To adjust, users press and hold the adjustment button and slide the comb up or down, then release to lock it in place.
  • Attachment Guide Combs (Fixed): These combs are designed to be hooked over the teeth of the wide trimmer, providing specific fixed lengths for trimming.
  • Precision Trimmer: This attachment is ideal for detailing, shaping beard edges, and achieving a micro stubble finish. It incorporates Trim Shave Technology, which trims hair down to 0.2 mm.
  • Nose, Ear, Eyebrow Trimmer: A specialized attachment for safely and effectively removing unwanted hair from the nose, ears, and eyebrows.
  • Mini Foil Shaver: Designed for clean-shaven edging around beards, moustaches, and sideburns. It is not intended for shaving the entire face but rather for detail areas.

Fitting and Removing Attachments:

Attachments are easily fitted and removed. To remove an attachment, rotate it anti-clockwise until it unlocks, then lift it off. To fit, place the desired attachment on top of the device and rotate it clockwise to lock it into place. It's crucial to ensure the device is switched off before changing attachments.

Fitting and Removing Fixed Guide Combs:

To fit a fixed guide comb, hook its front over the teeth of the wide trimmer and press the back down until it clicks. To remove, lift the tab on the back of the comb upwards until it detaches from the trimmer head.

Fitting and Removing the Adjustable Comb:

To fit the adjustable comb, align its rails with the slots on the sides of the groomer and slide it downwards. To remove, press and hold the adjustment button and push the comb up and off the groomer.

Instructions for Use:

Before trimming, it's recommended to comb facial hair with a fine comb in the direction of hair growth to ensure hairs are at their maximum height and facing the same direction. Hair should be dry and free from waxes or lotions. If hair builds up during use, the unit should be switched off, and the attachment and groomer cleaned of clippings.

  • 3-Day Stubble and Body Hair Maintenance: For a 3-day stubble look, allow hair to grow slightly longer than desired. Fit the 1.5 mm fixed comb to the wide trimmer and run it against the direction of hair growth. For body hair maintenance, fit the 3 mm fixed comb to the wide trimmer and run it against the direction of hair growth. The precision trimmer can be used to tidy stubble edges. The adjustable comb can also be used for more control over stubble length, trimming in increments.
  • Hair Clipping: The wide trimmer with the adjustable comb is used for hair clipping.
    • Nape of the Neck: Set the adjustable comb to 4 mm or 6 mm. Hold the clipper with blade teeth pointing upwards, starting at the center of the head at the base of the neck, and slowly lift upwards and outwards, trimming a little at a time.
    • Back of the Head: Use the comb set at 12 mm or 18 mm.
    • Side of the Head: Adjust the comb to a shorter length for areas around the ears, then increase the length setting to gradually transition to longer hair on top.
    • Top of the Head: Use longer length settings (up to 20 mm) and cut hair against its normal growth direction, working from the back of the head.
    • Trim Sideburns: Adjust the comb to the desired length or use fixed guide combs.
  • Short/Long Beard Trimming: Fit the wide trimmer and adjustable comb, set to the desired length. Start trimming under the chin, following the jawline, then work upwards towards the ear and upper beard line. Tidy edges with the precision trimmer.
  • Contour Edging and Close Hair Cutting:
    • Contour Edging: Hold the wide trimmer with the cutting blade facing you at 90 degrees to the skin. Use slow, controlled movements along the beard/moustache line.
    • Close Hair Cutting: Lift hair at the base of the head with one hand, protecting roots with an index finger. Hold the trimmer to the base of the neck with the blade facing up, moving it up until it touches the index finger.
  • Detailed Nose, Eyebrow, and Ear Hair Trimming: Fit the nose, ear, and eyebrow trimmer. Gently insert into the nostril or ear, moving it in and out while rotating the groomer. Do not insert more than 6 mm. For eyebrows, carefully guide the attachment to remove stray or longer hairs. For complete removal, let the attachment touch the skin and move over the desired area.
  • Micro Stubble and Precision Trimming:
    • Micro Stubble: Fit the precision trimmer. Hold it so the guide on the lower edge of the blade contacts the skin, similar to holding a wet razor. Use motions similar to wet shaving.
    • Precision Trimming: Hold the precision trimmer perpendicular to the skin and move it towards or away from the beard hair with gentle pressure and controlled movements.
  • Clean Shaven Edging: Use the mini foil shaver. Hold the groomer so the shaver gently touches the face. Use short, well-controlled movements to shave around beard/moustache. Stretch the skin with your free hand to encourage hair to stand upright.

Maintenance Features:

Proper care ensures long-lasting performance. The groomer should be cleaned after each use.

  • After Each Use:

    • Brush any accumulated hairs from the groomer and attachment heads.
    • The most hygienic way to clean the groomer is by detaching the head from the groomer body and rinsing the head with warm water. The groomer body itself should not be rinsed.
    • Place one or two drops of cutter oil or sewing machine oil on the blades.
    • Turn the clipper on to distribute the oil evenly, then wipe off any excess oil.
  • Battery Removal (for disposal):

    • It is strongly recommended that a professional removes the rechargeable battery due to sharp edges of the shaver case and tools.
    • The rechargeable battery must be removed from the appliance before it is scrapped.
    • Disconnect the charging adapter before removal.
    • Ensure the device is fully discharged by switching it on and letting it run until it stops.
    • Using a suitable tool, carefully pry apart the front and rear halves of the case at the joint line.
    • Cut the tabs holding the battery to the circuit board.
    • Used batteries must be disposed of at an appropriate official recycling/collection point.
    • Do not attempt to operate the shaver once it has been opened.

Charging:

Before first use, charge the trimmer for 10 hours.

  • Ensure the product is switched off.
  • Connect the charging adapter to the product and then to the mains.
  • The charge indicator light will illuminate during charging and turn off when complete.
  • The trimmer cannot be overcharged. However, if not used for an extended period (2-3 months), unplug it from the mains and store.
  • To preserve battery life, allow batteries to run out every 6 months, then recharge for 10 hours.
  • A full charge provides up to 60 minutes of cordless usage.

Corded Use:

  • Connect the charging adapter to the product and then to the mains.
  • Switch the trimmer on.
  • It is recommended to let the product charge for a few minutes before using corded.
