Chart 36 : Oil leak
Wash the automatic transmission.
Top up the level and apply talc.
Can the origin of the leak be detected?
What is the origin of the leak?

Leak from sunwheels
Leak from gear section/ final drive
casing seal.
Leak from base of dipstick tube.
(MJ type automatic transmission)
Leak from top of dipstick tube
Leak from pressure measurement plug.
(oil on the sump)
Fit seal Part Number 7700729392 after
cleaning the casings.
Does the leak persist?
Replace the O ring(s) on the dipstick tube.
After the operation, does the
leak persist?
Replace the oil, remembering to shake the
can before pouring the oil in (anti-emulsion
product at the bottom)
Replace the dipstick with an anti-emulsion
type dipstick (see MR T.A.M.)
After the operation, does the leak persist?
yes
Replace the sunwheel seals.
Does the leak persist?
yes
yes
Seal this plug with adhesive (loctite, ...) or
replace the seal on the cylindrical plug.
After the operation, does the leak persist?
no

Ensure the O rings on the speed sensor and
sealed connected are present.
Repair if the seals are missing.
