CHANGING A WHEEL: 5-seat Scénic
Park the vehicle on firm,
level ground which is not
slippery (e.g. avoid tiled
flooring,etc.)-ifnecessary,
place a plank under the jack for
support. Switch on the hazard
warning lights.
With the parking brake applied,
engage a gear (first or reverse gear
or position P for automatic
gearboxes).
Ask all the passengers to leave the
vehicle and keep them away from
the traffic.
Loosen the nuts using wheelbrace 1,
located in the tool kit. Fit it so that
you press downwards rather than
pulling upwards.
Offer up jack 3 horizontally, the jack
head should be positioned at the
levelofjackingpoint2 in the lower
section of the bodywork closest to
the wheel concerned, marked by an
arrow 4.
Start screwing up jack 3 by hand at
first to align the base plate (which
should be inclined further inwards
than the jack head). Place a plank of
wood under the base plate if on soft
ground.
Turn the wheelbrace to lift the
wheel off the ground.
Remove the bolts.
Remove the wheel.
Fit the emergency spare wheel on
the central hub and turn it to locate
the mounting holes in the wheel
and the hub.
Tighten the bolts and lower the jack.
With the wheels on the ground,
tighten the bolts as much as
possible and get a RENAULT Dealer
to check the tightness of the bolts as
soon as possible (tightening torque
130 Nm).
If you have a puncture,
replace the wheel as soon
as possible.
A tyre which has been
punctured should always be
inspected (and repaired if
possible) by a specialist.
