Do you have a question about the ReSound dot DT3060 Open and is the answer not in the manual?
The ReSound dot hearing instrument is a digital hearing aid designed to enhance sound quality for individuals with hearing loss. It is a receiver-in-ear (RIE) type hearing aid, meaning the receiver (speaker) is placed directly in the ear canal, connected to the main unit that sits behind the ear via a thin receiver tube.
The ReSound dot hearing instrument amplifies sounds to compensate for individual hearing loss, providing improved clarity for family, social, and professional interactions. It features an on/off function integrated into the battery compartment; the instrument turns on when the compartment is fully closed and off when opened to a small click. To conserve battery life, it is recommended to turn off the instrument when not in use. Some models may include a SmartStart function, which delays activation by 10 seconds after closing the battery compartment, indicated by beeps at one-second intervals. This feature can be activated or deactivated by a hearing care professional.
The device's maximum output (2cc coupler/IEC60118-7) varies by model:
The hearing instrument uses a size 10A Standard Zinc Air battery. Low battery is indicated by soft beeping signals for approximately one minute, repeating every five minutes until the device automatically switches off.
The ReSound dot is designed for easy insertion and removal. To insert, the instrument is hung over the top of the ear, and the receiver dome is pushed into the ear canal until the receiver tube lies flush with the head. If a sport lock is provided, it should be positioned into the indentation above the earlobe. Whistling may indicate incorrect dome placement or earwax buildup. For removal, the receiver tube is grasped where it bends, and the receiver dome is pulled out of the ear canal, followed by lifting the instrument off the ear. If using an RIE Mold, the pull-out cord is used to remove it from the ear canal.
Battery replacement involves opening the battery compartment with a fingernail, removing the old battery, and inserting a new size 10A Zinc Air battery with the flat, stickered side facing up. The sticker must be removed before closing the compartment. Force should not be used to close the compartment to avoid damage.
The device supports telephone use by holding the phone to the ear as usual. If discomfort arises from the dome, a different size sound tube may be needed.
Daily maintenance is crucial for the longevity and performance of the ReSound dot. The instrument should be kept clean and dry. The case should be wiped with a soft cloth or tissue after use to remove grease and moisture. Direct exposure to moisture (rain, shower) should be avoided. If the instrument gets wet or is exposed to high humidity/perspiration, the battery should be removed, the compartment left open, and the device allowed to dry overnight, preferably with a drying agent (dessicator).
The receiver tube and receiver domes require regular cleaning. The outside of these components can be cleaned with a damp cloth, but water should not be used directly on the receiver tubes or domes. The Receiver Air Dome, Receiver Tulip Dome, and Receiver Power Dome should be changed every third month or sooner if needed. It is recommended that a hearing care professional perform these changes, especially for the Power Dome which requires a tool. If changing domes independently, ensure they are securely fastened to the receiver tube before insertion.
The RIE Mold should be cleaned with a damp cloth after each use to prevent wax and bacteria buildup. If a damp cloth is insufficient, a hearing care professional can clean it with water and soap.
The device incorporates a double wax guard filter system. The first filter is in-moulded in the receiver domes, acting as front protection. The second, an HF3 type, is placed at the front of the receiver or inside the dome for High Power Receivers. These filters come in red (right ear) and blue (left ear) to indicate placement. Instructions for changing the wax guard for NP Receiver Tube are provided, involving a tool to remove the old filter and insert a new one. For HP Receiver Tube Power Domes, a hearing care professional should change the wax guard.
