Why won't my Reznor Heater burner light?
    • V
      vdavisAug 8, 2025
The burner might not light due to several reasons. First, ensure the manual valve is open. If it's a new installation, there may be air in the gas line, requiring you to bleed it. Also, check that the gas pressure is within the correct range. Another potential cause is no spark, which could stem from loose wire connections, a faulty transformer (ensure 24 volts are available), an incorrect spark gap (maintain at 1/8”), a shorted spark wire or electrode, an ungrounded DSI board, or an improperly grounded unit. If a lockout device is interrupting the control circuit, reset it by interrupting control at the thermostat for 5 seconds or main power for 0.25 seconds. If all else fails, and 24 volts are available to the DSI control board, consider replacing the board.

What causes a Reznor VR Heater blower motor to not run?
    • S
      Sean FryeAug 12, 2025
A blower motor that won't run may have an open circuit, so check the wiring and connections. Alternatively, the DSI control board or the motor itself could be defective, requiring replacement.

How to fix a Reznor Heater blower motor that won't start?
    • S
      Stephanie CollierAug 16, 2025
If the blower motor isn't starting, begin by checking if the unit has power and that the supply fuses or main circuit breaker are in working order. Next, verify that there's 24-volt power reaching the DSI control board by turning up the thermostat and checking the control transformer output. Ensure that the connections at the DSI board and motor terminals are secure. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the DSI control board or the blower motor itself may be defective and require replacement.

What to do if my Reznor VR Heater is operating but there is no heat?
    • R
      Roy Stevens MDAug 21, 2025
If your heater is running but not producing heat, check the valve outlet pressure against the rating plate specifications. Also, review the thermostat's location and adjustment, referring to the thermostat manufacturer’s instructions for guidance.

What to do if my Reznor VR Heater burner cycles on and off?
    • R
      Robert HahnAug 26, 2025
If your burner cycles on and off, there could be a few reasons. Begin by checking the gas pressure to ensure it's neither too high nor too low. Make certain the DSI control board is properly grounded to the furnace chassis. If these aren't the issue, the DSI control board itself might be faulty and need replacing, assuming 24 volts are available to it and other potential causes are eliminated. Also, check the combustion air proving switch: ensure the unit is properly vented, remove any vent obstructions, and replace any faulty tubing to the pressure switch. Inspect the spark electrode assembly, ensuring the lead isn't grounded, the insulation isn't damaged, and the ceramic isn't cracked; replace as needed.

Why does my Reznor VR Heater blower motor cut out on overload?
    • J
      jholmesAug 29, 2025
If the blower motor cuts out on overload, it could be due to a few reasons. First, check for low or high voltage supply and correct it. The motor itself may be defective and need replacement. Poor airflow could also be the culprit, so clean the motor and blower. Finally, a defective bearing can cause this issue, requiring motor replacement.

Why does my Reznor VR blower motor turn on and off while the burner is operating?
    • D
      Derek FitzgeraldSep 2, 2025
The blower motor might be turning on and off because the motor overload device is cycling. Check the motor load against the motor rating plate, and replace the motor if necessary.
