Do you have a question about the RF4 RF-H2 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the RF-H2 Anti-static Hot Air Desoldering Station, a single-function device designed for dismantling and welding surface mount electronic components.

Function Description

The RF-H2 is primarily used for the dismantling and welding of surface mount electronic components such as SOIC, CHIP, QFP, PLCC, and BGA. It is also suitable for the disassembly and welding of mobile phone wiring and wiring holders. Beyond soldering tasks, the device can be used for heating, drying, removing paint, removing glue, thawing, bonding, thermal testing, and other processes that require heating for heat shrinkable hose and various plastics.

The device incorporates a PID full program temperature control system, which uses a K-type thermocouple sensing closed loop microcomputer. This system ensures accurate temperature control, minimizes multiple fault indications, and provides safety protection measures. The temperature constant temperature accuracy is within ±2 degrees Celsius, with a linear distortion of less than ±3.

For airflow, the RF-H2 employs a high-performance double ball vortex fan, known for its characteristics of low noise, light weight, large air volume, high wind pressure, and long service life. The air volume can be adjusted within a range of 5% to 100%.

The handle is equipped with an induction switch, allowing it to be removed from the bracket to quickly enter the working mode. When the handle is placed in the handle holder, the system will cool down and send cold air to the standby state. This real-time operation is convenient, saves energy, and prolongs the service life of the heating element.

A unique active safety protection patent technology is integrated into the product, preventing spontaneous combustion and burning of the handle. In case of a fault, the load is automatically cut off.

The device also features sound alarm functions for various events: power-on, constant temperature, sleep, over-temperature, heating failure, and handle detachment.

Usage Features

Initial Setup:

  1. Place the device on a stable work table.
  2. Install the appropriate air gun nozzle onto the steel pipe of the air outlet.
  3. After assembly, place the handle on the handle holder.
  4. Connect the AC power cable to the AC socket at the rear of the device, ensuring proper grounding.
  5. Turn on the power switch. The display will show "HOT SLEEP," indicating standby mode.

Operation:

  1. Adjust the "AIR" and "HOT" buttons (▲ and ▼) to achieve the desired air volume and temperature.
  2. Pick up the handle to begin normal heating. Once the temperature is constant, desoldering and welding operations can commence.
  3. After use, place the handle back into the handle frame. The device will automatically cut off power and enter a cold air cooling mode for the heating device.
  4. When the temperature drops below 70°C, the device enters standby mode, the fan stops, and the heating wire ceases to operate.
  5. If using a two-in-one welding platform, the soldering iron operates similarly.
  6. For prolonged periods of non-use, turn off the main power switch.

Memory Working Mode: The device has pre-regulated memory working modes: "CH1," "CH2," and "CH3." Users can call up pre-set working channels or pre-set temperature and fan flow for selected channels. The default operating mode is the current one. To invoke a specific working mode (CH1, CH2, or CH3), press the corresponding button once to check its availability. Press the button again to activate the parameters of that channel. When viewing a channel, the channel number is displayed on the right of the screen. To save the current working mode, double-click the key corresponding to the channel.

Operation Skills:

  1. Ensure the equipment is reliable and well-grounded to remove static electricity and prevent electric shock.
  2. Select the appropriate welding nozzle size. Larger nozzles are suitable for increasing the heating area, allowing objects to absorb heat and melt tin more quickly.
  3. For general use, operate at low temperatures, typically 280°C-330°C.
  4. When operating, maintain a distance of 5mm-8mm between the nozzle and the workpiece. For preheating, move the handle to direct hot air flow to the chip pin, ensuring even heating and protecting the workpiece.
  5. When removing chips, an IC puller can be inserted at the bottom or pin of the chip. Remove the chip after it is fully melted.
  6. During chip welding, clean dirt and residue from the chip pin pad on the PCB board. Apply solder paste to the IC pad, and use the air gun at the IC pin pad in a circular motion to melt the solder paste. Pay attention to the air nozzle to avoid touching the IC and IC pin.
  7. When dismantling and welding, keep the bottom of the workpiece hanging in the air (preferably the bottom of the PCB) so that heat is not absorbed by the bottom table. This improves dismantling and welding efficiency.

Maintenance Features

Heating Element Replacement: The heating element is a consumable part, and its service life is affected by air humidity, working temperature, environmental climate, power size, internal material structure, and manufacturing process. If the heating element is damaged, replace it with one of the same model. General requirements include matching power, appearance size, wire diameter, and the sensor line (KP+ and KP-). There may be differences in heating elements from different manufacturers, so it is recommended to replace with the original heating element. The sensor line is a K-type thermocouple; ensure correct polarity ("+" and "-") when replacing to avoid unstable temperature readings.

Replacement Procedure:

  1. Remove the three M3*10 tapping screws from the handle barrel.
  2. Remove the screw pointing in the direction of the arrow.
  3. Unplug the ground cable of the steel pipe and pull out the steel pipe. Draw out the heating core, which is covered with a layer of high-temperature mica paper for insulation.
  4. Loosen the cable tray using a Phillips screwdriver and remove it.
  5. After removing the heating core, roll the good heating core with a layer of mica paper. Reassemble back into the handle barrel in reverse order of disassembly.
  6. Distinguish between sensor polarity and heating body lead.
  7. After replacement, ensure the heating core is complete and then power on for testing.

Warning Indications: The device has multiple fault protection, display prompts, and sound warning functions.

  • ERR1: Indicates that the heater is damaged or the polarity of the sensor cable is incorrect. Disconnect power to rectify.
  • ERR2: The heater is at high temperature or the handle is off. Disconnect power to rectify.
  • SLEEP: Indicates the device is in standby SLEEP state.
  • OFF: Closes.
  • ON: Opens.
  • ▲: The set value increases.
  • ▼: The set value decreases. Sound prompts will occur upon power on, constant temperature, and equipment error. Rectify the fault before clearing.

Safety Precautions:

  1. Ensure the power supply is reliably and well-grounded to prevent static electricity. Keep away from flammable and explosive gases, paper, or other flammable objects to prevent fire.
  2. This product involves high temperature and heating gas. Pay attention to safety to prevent burns. Avoid touching the heating tube of the drawing welding platform.
  3. Cut the material so that the air flow out of the welding table does not contact the body skin.
  4. Avoid touching objects with the working electric soldering iron.
  5. It is normal for the air pipe to emit white smoke when the welding platform is first used; this will clear after a period of time.
  6. The equipment is equipped with overtemperature protection. If the temperature rises above 580 degrees Celsius, the controller will forcibly cut off the load to prevent further heating.
  7. If the temperature cools to the normal range or the power failure is rectified after a restart, the fault warning will be cleared.

General Warning: This equipment is a high-temperature operation tool. Pay attention to anti-scalding when using. Someone should be on duty during operation. Do not use near flammable and explosive objects.
