Overview

The GC-2008 is a pinpoint metal detector designed for versatile use in various environments. Its primary function is to locate metal targets with precision, indicated by vibration and light alerts.

Function Description:

The GC-2008 operates using pulse induction technology, allowing it to detect all types of metal. When a target is located, the detector provides feedback through pulses of vibration and flashes of bright light from a white LED. A key feature is "Target distancing," where the intensity and quantity of these vibrations and light flashes increase as the search coil gets closer to the target. This proportional feedback helps users gauge the target's proximity and size; a larger target or closer proximity results in a higher pulse count. The device is designed for "Automatic tuning," meaning it requires no manual adjustment of sensitivity or frequency, making it user-friendly. To detect a target, movement of the search coil is required, typically by sweeping it back and forth along the surface being searched.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Detection type: Pulse induction
  • Search mode: All metal
  • Waterproof: The device features a sealed design, making it waterproof up to 99 feet underwater. This allows for detection in wet environments, including grass, mud, dirt, sand, black sand, and both fresh and saltwater.
  • Sensitivity: 1.97 inches
  • Power: The GC-2008 operates on a single 9-volt battery.

Usage Features:

  • Turning On/Off: To turn on the detector, hold the unit with the search coil up for approximately three seconds. A light flash, two short vibration pulses, and a steady dim light indicate it's on. To turn off, repeat the process; a light flash, two short vibration pulses, and no light indicate it's off.
  • Automatic Shut-off: If no metal is detected within one minute, the unit will automatically turn off to conserve battery life.
  • Low Battery Indication: When the battery is low, the unit will automatically shut down, signaled by four long vibration pulses and a bright light.
  • Battery Installation: To install the battery, rotate the battery cover counter-clockwise to open the compartment. Connect a standard 9-volt alkaline battery to the connector and insert it. Then, turn the battery cover clockwise until hand-tight to ensure a water-tight seal.
  • Detection Field: The detection field projected by the search coil resembles an oval shape, with the deepest detection depth at the center of the coil.
  • Troubleshooting: If the detector signals without a target metal, it could be due to interference from highly mineralized soil, electromagnetic sources (home appliances, other machines), or non-target metals. Since sensitivity cannot be debugged, increasing the distance of the coil from the target is suggested. Changing the detecting place or removing interference sources can also help.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Care: It is recommended to remove the battery when the detector is not in use to extend its life. Users should avoid using force to install or remove the battery to prevent damage to the battery cable. Before submerging the detector, it's crucial to ensure the battery compartment seal is secure to maintain its waterproof integrity.
  • Durability: The device is designed to be robust, but dropping it may cause malfunctions. Securing the detector to the wrist with an attached wrist strap is advised to prevent accidental drops.
  • Battery Quality: Always use high-quality batteries, such as alkaline or nickel metal hydride (NiMH), for optimal performance and longevity.

Warranty and Customer Service:

The GC-2008 comes with a 2-year warranty and 24-hour customer service. Support is available via email for any assistance needed.
