Do you have a question about the RIDGID RD907500P and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document is an operator's manual for a RIDGID portable generator, model RD907500P. It provides comprehensive information on the generator's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance in English, French, and Spanish.

The generator is designed to supply electrical power for operating compatible electrical lighting, appliances, tools, and motor loads. It is equipped with both electric start and recoil start capabilities.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Engine Type: 420cc OHV
  • Fuel Volume: 8 gallons (30.2 liters)
  • Spark Plug: HJ F7TC or equivalent
  • Lubricant Fill Volume: 34 oz (1.1 liters)
  • Rated Voltage: 120V/240V
  • Rated Amps: 62.5A/31.25A
  • Rated Running Watts: 7,500 W (determined by PGMA Standard G200)
  • Rated Starting Watts: 9,375 W
  • Rated Frequency: 60 Hz
  • Dimensions: Length 30 in (762 mm), Width 28.2 in (716.3 mm), Height 25.7 in (652.8 mm)
  • Weight: 221 lbs (100.2 kg)
  • Battery: Nominal 12-volt sealed rechargeable lead-acid battery.

Usage Features:

  • GenSmart™ Monitoring System: This system tracks usage and load, and alerts the operator when periodic engine maintenance is needed. It displays wattage, voltage, hertz, and hours. The load indicator measures wattage output from the 120V GFCI and 240V 30 Amp outlets. The hour meter tracks engine run time, useful for determining service intervals. A flashing message appears every 100 hours to remind the operator about engine service.
  • AC Circuit Breaker: Protects the generator against electrical overload. It can be reset by pressing the reset button.
  • Ground Terminal: Used for proper grounding to protect against electrical shock. Users are advised to consult a qualified local electrician for grounding requirements.
  • Air Filter: Limits the amount of dirt and dust entering the unit during operation.
  • Choke Lever: Used for starting the engine.
  • Engine Switch: Used to start and stop the generator, either alone or in combination with the recoil starter grip.
  • Fuel Tank: 8-gallon capacity.
  • Fuel Valve: Controls fuel flow from the tank to the engine.
  • Oil Cap/Dipstick: Used to check and add lubricant.
  • Oil Drain Plug: Used to drain old engine lubricant.
  • Receptacles: Two 120V AC duplex GFCI 20 Amp receptacles and one 240V AC 30 Amp receptacle are available on the control panel.
  • Recoil Starter Grip: Used for manual starting.
  • Handle: Used for moving the generator by rolling it on its wheels. It can be raised for movement and lowered for storage or transport.
  • Battery Connection: The battery cables must be connected before using the electric start feature. Red wire to positive (+), black wire to negative (-).
  • Starting the Engine: Requires unplugging all loads, turning the fuel valve ON, moving the choke lever to START (or RUN if warm), and then using the engine switch or recoil starter grip.
  • Stopping the Engine: Requires removing all loads, turning the fuel valve OFF, and placing the engine switch in the OFF position.
  • High Altitude Operation: The engine is configured for operation below 2,000 feet altitude. Reconfiguration by a qualified service center is required for operation above 2,000 feet to prevent increased emissions, decreased fuel efficiency, degraded performance, and irreversible damage.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Maintenance: Keep the generator in a clean and dry environment, free from dust, dirt, moisture, or corrosive vapors. Avoid clogging cooling air slots. Do not use a garden hose for cleaning.
  • Air Filter Maintenance: Check and clean the air filter regularly. If dirty, wash with warm, soapy water, rinse, dry, and apply a light coat of engine lubricant.
  • Engine Lubricant Change: Remove the oil cap/dipstick, place a container under the oil drain plug, remove the plug, and allow lubricant to drain. Reinstall the plug and refill with new lubricant (SAE 10W-30 recommended).
  • Spark Plug Maintenance: Remove the spark plug cap, clean around the base, remove the plug, inspect for damage, clean with a wire brush, and check the gap (0.028-0.031 in). Replace if damaged.
  • Exhaust Port and Muffler Cleaning: Carbon deposits may accumulate, leading to power loss. This service should be performed by qualified service technicians.
  • Spark Arrestor: Inspect the screen for breaks or holes and remove carbon deposits with a brush.
  • Fuel System Drainage: Before storage, drain fuel from the tank and carburetor to prevent gum deposits. This involves turning off the engine and fuel valve, removing fuel lines, and draining into a suitable container.
  • Fuel Filter Replacement: Replace the fuel filter if clogged.
  • Engine Battery Charge Circuit Fuse: Replace if necessary. A replacement fuse is typically stored inside the fuse holder.
  • Transporting: Turn off the engine and fuel valve, allow 30 minutes for cool down, keep the unit level, and restrain it securely in a vehicle.
  • Battery Removal for Recycling: Cover terminals with heavy-duty adhesive tape upon removal. Dispose of lead-acid batteries properly according to local and state regulations.
  • Maintenance Schedule: A detailed schedule is provided, outlining tasks to be performed before each use, after the first month or 20 hours, every 3 months or 50 hours, every 6 months or 100 hours, and annually or after 300 hours of operation. Some tasks require a qualified service center.

Safety Warnings:

The manual emphasizes critical safety warnings, including the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning (never use indoors), fire and serious burns (fuel handling, hot surfaces), electric shock (wet conditions, grounding), and injury from moving parts. It also highlights the importance of using a battery-powered CO alarm. The generator should be located at least 20 feet away from windows, doors, and vents.

Warranty Information:

The generator comes with a 3-year limited warranty covering defects in material and workmanship for the original purchaser. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, alterations, normal wear and tear, lack of maintenance, accidents, or unauthorized repairs. The gasoline engine has a separate warranty from the engine manufacturer. The manual also includes a Federal Emission Control Warranty Statement, covering evaporative emission control system components for three years.
