VIS 300C Test Platform
The VIS 300C is a ber optic test platform which provides a unique and simple interface
for gathering and reporting test results. All VIS 300C units are capable of automated
ber inspection, saving of images, and sharing saved results. For added functionality,
VIS 300C-PM-02-V and VIS 300C-PM-04-V units include an onboard optical power meter
(OPM) and visual fault locator (VFL/Red Laser). This guide will serve as an overview of the
features and functions of the device.

Power Unit ON
With the VIS 300C unit powered OFF, press the Power Button once to turn the unit ON. The VIS 300C
will emit a beep to indicate unit has powered ON. The Battery Indicator LED will light up.
Put Unit to Sleep
With the VIS 300C fully powered ON, press the Power Button briey (less than 1 second) to put the
unit into “Sleep Mode”. While in Sleep Mode, the Battery Indicator LED will remain lit, and the screen
will turn o. The unit cannot be powered OFF while in Sleep Mode.
Wake Unit from Sleep
With the VIS 300C in Sleep Mode, press the Power Button briey (less than 1 second) to return the
unit to its full functionality. The screen will turn back on.
Power Unit OFF
With the VIS 300C powered ON, press and hold the Power Button for 3 seconds, then release the
Power Button to turn the unit o. The unit will show a “Shutting Down” indicator, then power down.
The Battery Indicator LED will turn o when the unit is fully shut down.
Hard Shutdown
With the VIS 300C powered ON, press and hold the Power Button for 6-10 seconds to initiate a “Hard
Shutdown”. The unit will beep twice to indicate a Hard Shutdown has occurred. The Hard Shutdown
sequence should not be used during normal operation, as loss of data may occur.

Summary

Power Button Functions

Power Unit ON

Press the Power Button once to turn the VIS 300C ON. Unit emits a beep and Battery Indicator LED lights up.

Put Unit to Sleep

Briefly press the Power Button (<1 sec) to enter "Sleep Mode". Screen turns off, LED remains lit.

Wake Unit from Sleep

Briefly press the Power Button (<1 sec) while in Sleep Mode to resume full functionality.

Power Unit OFF

Press and hold Power Button for 3 seconds to initiate shutdown. Unit shows "Shutting Down" and powers off.

Hard Shutdown

Press and hold Power Button for 6-10 seconds for a "Hard Shutdown". Unit beeps twice. Not for normal use.

Device Ports and Indicators

Battery Indicator LED

LED changes color (Green, Orange, Red) to indicate battery charge levels (100-31%, 30-11%, 10-0%).

5 Touch Sensitive Screen

Full-color LCD touchscreen providing the user interface. Pixel dimensions are 800 x 480.

Optical Power Meter Port

Physical interface for connecting patchcord jumpers for optical test and measurement (PM-02-V/PM-04-V models).

VFL Port

Physical interface for connecting fiber jumpers for fault detection and continuity testing (PM-02-V/PM-04-V models).

Micro USB Data Port

Port for transferring data from the VIS 300C to a compatible PC.

USB Instrument Input

USB 2.0 Type A port for connecting an HD inspection scope or UPM 100 power meter.

Charging and Accessories

Battery Charger Input

Uses a 12.6-volt Lithium-Ion wall charger. Indicator light is red when charging, green when fully charged.

Protective Boot

Molded rubber boot housing the monitor, with a fold-out stand and strap attachment points.

Inspection Scope

High-definition scope providing a wide viewing area for accurate automated analysis.

Focus Ring

Adjusts focus for bare fiber ferrules and patchcords. Probe body can turn for bulkhead focus.

Interchangeable Inspection Tip

Tips attach via a threaded ring on the scope, offering various connector styles.

Analysis Button

Located on the probe body, this button initiates analysis or returns to a live image.

Software and UI Navigation

Power Meter Navigation

Touch to navigate to the software's power meter page.

Settings Access

View system info, setup Wi-Fi, connect email accounts, and access the User Manual.

Projects Management

Create, edit, delete projects; view data and send closeout reports.

Zoom Functionality

Touch to toggle high and low magnification zoom on the screen.

Analyze Function

Touch to begin automated analysis using current settings.

Save Function

Touch to save the onscreen image (analyzed or live) to the selected project folder.

VFL Control

This button controls the onboard VFL.
