Children
Children should be in the rear seats and properly restrained in a child seat
appropriate for their height and weight.
If the child is too big for a child seat, they can be restrained using the seat belt. For
proper fit, the shoulder belt should cross over the child’s front and not touch the
face or neck. The lap belt should be secured as low as possible on the hips and not
on the child’s waist. See also Child Seats.
• At the end of the warning period, the Seat Belt Reminder indicator stays on,
and the system sounds a warning chime once the vehicle is traveling at a speed
greater than 5 mph.
• If the seat belt light stays on without an occupant in the seat, ensure that no
heavy object is placed on the seat.
