Install a Child Seat
Follow the state and seat manufacturer guidelines for whether to install the child
seat rear or forward-facing. These rules are often based on the child’s age, height
and weight.
If a child seat can’t be installed securely in the rear-center seating position because
of seat size, space limitations, or seat contours, install the child seat on either side
position of the outboard seats near the windows. The rear-center seating position
may best accommodate a smaller booster seat or an infant bucket seat with a
bottom base that fits snugly against the contours of the seat cushions. These types
of child seats should be secured snugly with the vehicle’s seat belt.
