Why is my Rockwood Welding Accessories auto-dimming not working?

  The auto-dimming feature may not be functioning due to several reasons. First, dirt might be obstructing the sensors located at the upper area of the lens assembly; if so, clean the lens assembly. Second, the batteries could be low; expose the solar cells to a bright light source to recharge them. Finally, dirt might be blocking the solar cells at the upper portion of the viewer area, requiring you to clean the lens assembly.

  If the lens has a slow response for darkening, it might be due to the operating temperature being too low. Avoid using the welding accessories below 23°F (-5°C). Also, the sensitivity setting may need adjustment. Follow the “Sensitivity” section in the instructions for the adjustment procedure.
