Overview

This document provides an instruction manual for the Rohnson DUAL BASKET AIR FRYER, model R-2844, detailing its functions, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Rohnson R-2844 is a dual-basket air fryer designed for household use, offering a healthier alternative to traditional deep frying by utilizing hot air. It features two independent cooking baskets, allowing users to prepare different food items simultaneously or to cook larger quantities. The appliance includes various cooking functions such as Air Fry, Roast, Broil, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate, each with default temperature and time settings that can be adjusted.

A key feature is its dual-basket system, which can operate in several modes:

  • Independent Cooking: Each basket can be set to different temperatures and times, allowing for the preparation of distinct dishes.
  • Synchronous Completion (SYNC FINISH): This function allows both barrels to work together, with the longer cooking time barrel starting first. When the countdown times are equal, both barrels will operate simultaneously until completion.
  • Dual Cook: This mode enables both barrels to have the same function, working and ending at the same time, ideal for cooking larger batches of the same food.

The air fryer is equipped with a digital display that shows the time and temperature for both the left and right baskets. It also includes a "SHAKE FOOD" prompt, indicated by a flashing stirring indicator, which reminds the user to shake the food halfway through the cooking cycle for even results. This prompt appears when approximately two-thirds of the cooking time is completed.

The control panel features dedicated buttons for each basket (LEFT and RIGHT) for individual selection, along with temperature and time adjustment buttons (+ and -). A power button allows users to return to standby mode from a cooking or setting state. A start/pause button initiates the cooking function after settings are applied and can also pause the cooking process. Menu selection buttons are available for each cooking mode (Air Fry, Roast, Broil, Bake, Reheat, Dehydrate) when the appliance is not in operation.

Usage Features

Before first use, all packaging materials, stickers, and labels must be removed. The baskets and pans should be cleaned with hot water, soap, and a non-abrasive sponge, and the inside and outside of the appliance wiped with a clean cloth. It is important to note that the pan should not be filled with oil or frying fat as the appliance operates on hot air.

To use the air fryer, it should be placed on a flat and even surface that is not heat resistant. The basket is then placed into the pan. Preheating the air fryer for 3 minutes when cold is recommended. After preheating, ingredients are placed in the basket, which is then inserted into the pan and the pan into the appliance.

Users can select the desired cooking function from the menu, such as Air Fry, Roast, Broil, Bake, Reheat, or Dehydrate. Each function has default temperature and time settings, which can be adjusted using the temperature and time setting buttons. For example, the Air Fry function defaults to 200°C and 20 minutes, while Roast defaults to 200°C and 35 minutes. The Dehydrate function has a wider range, defaulting to 55°C and 8 hours, and does not require shaking.

During cooking, if the "SHAKE FOOD" indicator flashes, the user should pull out the pan by the handle. The air fryer will automatically shut down. The ingredients should be shaken or turned, and the pan then reinserted to resume the cooking cycle. This ensures even cooking.

Once cooking is finished, a timer bell will ring. The pan should be carefully pulled out and placed on a pot holder. Users should be cautious as oil from ingredients may gather at the bottom of the pan. If ingredients are not ready, the pan can be reinserted, and additional cooking time can be set. To remove ingredients, handle 1 is used to lift the basket from the pan. The pan should not be turned over to avoid spilling collected oil onto the ingredients.

The manual provides tips for optimal use, such as:

  • Small ingredients generally require shorter cooking times.
  • Shaking smaller ingredients halfway through cooking improves results.
  • A small amount of oil can be added to fresh potatoes for a crispier result.
  • Extremely greasy ingredients, like sausages, are not recommended for air frying.
  • For crispy fries, 500 grams of cut potatoes are recommended.
  • Pre-made dough requires less cooking time than homemade dough.
  • For cakes, quiches, or filled ingredients, only the pan should be used, not the basket.
  • The air fryer can also be used to reheat ingredients at 80°C for up to 10 minutes.

Specific instructions are provided for making homemade fries, including washing, peeling, slicing, and drying potatoes, coating them with olive oil, and then air frying according to the cooking guide.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is essential for the longevity and proper functioning of the air fryer. The appliance should be cleaned after every use, but it is crucial to allow it to cool down for at least 30 minutes before cleaning.

For cleaning the pan, basket, and the inside of the appliance, hot water, soap, and a non-abrasive sponge should be used. Degreasing liquid soap can help remove any remaining food debris. If food debris is stuck, soaking the pan in hot water and soap for about 10 minutes is recommended. It is important to avoid using metal kitchen utensils or abrasive cleaning materials on these parts to prevent damage to the non-stick coating. When cleaning the inside, care should be taken not to get too much water inside the appliance; it should be wiped down to remove food debris and grease.

The outside of the fryer can be wiped with a moist cloth. The heating element should be cleaned with a cleaning brush to remove any food debris.

The manual also emphasizes important safeguards, including:

  • Not immersing the cord, plug, or any part of the appliance in water or other liquids.
  • Ensuring all ingredients are within the basket to prevent contact with heating elements.
  • Not covering air inlet and outlet openings during operation.
  • Not touching the inside of the appliance while it is operating.
  • Keeping the main cord away from hot surfaces.
  • Ensuring the appliance is plugged into a wall socket properly.
  • Keeping the cord and appliance out of reach of children.
  • Not connecting the appliance to an external timer switch or separate remote-control system.
  • Not placing the appliance on or near combustible materials.
  • Maintaining at least 10cm of free space around the appliance for proper air circulation.
  • Not placing anything on top of the appliance during operation.
  • Unplugging the appliance immediately if dark smoke is observed and waiting for smoke emission to stop before removing the pan.
  • Ensuring the appliance is placed on a horizontal, even, and stable surface.

The appliance is designed for household use only, and the warranty is void if used for professional or semi-professional purposes, or if instructions are not followed. Children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, can use the appliance if supervised and instructed on safe use and understanding of hazards. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children unless they are over 8 and supervised. The appliance and its cord must be kept out of reach of children under 8 years.

In case of a damaged supply cord, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a similarly qualified person to avoid hazards. The product should be disposed of correctly at the end of its working life, not as urban waste, but at a special local authority differentiated waste collection center or through a dealer providing such service, to avoid negative environmental and health consequences and to enable material recovery.
