of 5 mm . (0.20 in.) is mai nt ained between the
heats
hields an d exhaust pip es.
Battery
Check the level of th e el ec trol yte and if necessarr y,
top-up wit h d is ti I led water.
Belt tension
Ch e ck the tension of a ll dr iv ing belt s, reset i f
nece
ss ary.
Brakes
Inspect the footbraka and par kin g brake pad linings,
fit new linings if necessa ry . Wh en changing the
footbrake pads exam
ine the condi tion of the dust
excluders
on the c ali pers; renew if neces sary.

Inspect a
ll brake pipes an d conn ection s; the
Franchise Hold er sh ould report any defec ts to t he
Owner.
F luid levels
Ch eck all fluid levels and cor rect if n ec essary.
Preventive Maintenance
Carburetters
Top- up the oil lev el in the ai r valve dampers.
Control linkages
A pp ly a few dr ops of en gine oil to the ac celerator
Ii nkage and to the gear r an ge se I ector contro Is
a
djacent to the transm iss ion casing.
Electrical system
Check al I interi or lamps, ext e rior lamps, instrumen ts,
warning lamps a nd devi ces for correct operation;
rectify if necessary.
Parking brake linkage
Lubricate the pivot pins an d pull e:is in the par king
brake sy st em with approved grease.
Tyres
Check the tre ad dep th of all tyres, insp ect all tyr es

of da ma ge. Check the tyr e pressures when

ar e cold and ad ju st if necess ary.

Clean the gauze fla me traps in the crank case
breather tube, Cle an the ad ap ter in th8 Choke
butt er fly housing.

Ch an ge the engine oi I. Fit a new oi I filter.
Exhaust manifolds
Ch eck the torque tightness of th e exhau st ma nifo ld
bol ts .

Check gr ass - fire he atsh ields for damage. Rec tify or
renew shields to en su re that a minimum cle a ra nce
of 5 m m. (0.20 in.} is maintained between the
heatshie lds and exha ust pip es.
Fuel evaporative emissi on control system
Check the con dit ion of the pipes and connections;

ec tify if necessa ry.
Ign iti on system
Fit new sp arking p lugs en su ring that the ga ps are
corr ec t ly set. Lubri cate the dis tribut or spi ndle
(shaft bear
in gs) an d auto matic advance mechani sm
with engine oil. Che ck the ign itio n ti ming and

eset if ne ce ss ary. Check the en g in e idle speed
and rectify
if neces sa ry .
Battery
Check the lev el of the el ec trolyte and ii necessary,
top-up
with di s tilled water.
