Overview

This document is a user manual for the Rosewill RHPA-18003 Portable Air Conditioner, a 4-in-1 12000 BTU unit.

Function Description

The Rosewill RHPA-18003 is a versatile portable air conditioner designed for indoor use, offering four primary functions: Cool, Heat, Dry, and Fan modes. It is suitable for cooling or heating rooms ranging from 200 sq ft to 300 sq ft. The unit features continuous water drainage for its Cool and Dry functions, enhancing its operational efficiency. An automatic swing leaf ensures effective air circulation, and the air outlet/louver can be closed when the unit is off to prevent dust ingress. The air conditioner also includes an air filtration capability, contributing to improved indoor air quality. For convenience, it has a timer function, allowing users to schedule its operation. A 3-minute delay booting function is incorporated to protect and extend the lifespan of the compressor.

Usage Features

The RHPA-18003 is designed for user-friendly operation with several convenient features:

  • Control Panel: An LED Display Control Panel provides clear visual feedback and allows for easy setting adjustments.
  • Remote Control: A high-quality, user-friendly remote control is included, which can be conveniently stored on the back of the AC unit.
  • Portability: Designed with handles on both sides and wheels for easy carrying and transport between rooms.
  • Power Cord Storage: A power cord fixing board insertion on the rear of the AC unit allows for tidy storage of the cord when not in use.
  • Exhaust Air Vent: Positioned high to facilitate the smooth flow of the heat pipe.
  • Timer Function: Allows scheduling of auto shutoff (1-24 hours when on) or auto turn-on (up to 24 hours in advance when off).
  • Fan Speed Selection: Offers high, medium, and low fan speeds in Cool or Fan modes. In Dry mode, the fan defaults to low speed.
  • Temperature Adjustment: Up and Down buttons allow increasing or decreasing Cool and Heat temperatures. Not available in Fan or Dry modes.
  • Temperature Scale Switch: Simultaneously pressing the Up and Down buttons switches between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
  • Mode Selection: Easily switch between Cool, Dry, Fan, and Heat modes.
  • Sleep Mode: In Cool mode, activating Sleep mode operates the unit in an energy-saving, quiet manner at low fan speed. Set temperatures increase by 2 degrees every 30 minutes for up to 1 hour, then maintained for 7 hours before the mode ends. Not available in Fan or Dry modes.
  • Swing Function: Pressing the Swing button opens or closes the swing style, allowing air flow at different angles.
  • Drainage: Supports both manual drainage (when the water tank is full) and continuous drainage (optional, for Cool and Dry modes) via a drainage pipe connected to a bucket.
  • Safety Plug: Equipped with a Leakage-Current Detection and Interruption (LCDI) safety plug to reduce the risk of fire from arc faults. Users are instructed to test the plug before use.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficiency of the air conditioner:

  • Surface Cleaning: The surface of the machine should be cleaned with a soft, moist cloth. Harsh chemicals like benzene, alcohol, or gasoline should be avoided to prevent damage.
  • Filter Screen Cleaning: The filter screens (EVA Filter and CON Filter) should be cleaned once every two weeks to maintain air conditioner effectiveness and prevent dust clogs.
  • Filter Screen Removal:
    • Upper Filter Screen Frame (EVA Filter): Clasp the wedging block with hands, force down from the outside to remove the frame. Unscrew four screws from the EVA Filter screen and rear housing to remove the filter screen.
    • Lower Filter Screen Frame (CON Filter): Hold the handle and pull it outward gently to remove.
  • Filter Cleaning Method: Both filter screens should be placed in warm water (104°F / 40°C) with a neutral detergent, rinsed, and left to dry in a shaded area.
  • Postseason Storage:
    • Drain all water from the unit.
    • Run the machine in low-speed ventilation mode until the drainage pipe is dry to prevent mildew.
    • Turn off, unplug, and wrap the power cord. Reinstall the water plug and drainage cover.
    • Remove the exhaust pipe.
    • Cover the air conditioner with a plastic bag and store all components in a dry place, away from dust and out of reach of children.
    • Remove batteries from the remote control for storage.

Safety Features

The unit incorporates several safety mechanisms:

  • Frost Protection: In Cool, Dry, or power-saving Sleep modes, if the exhaust pipe temperature is too low, the machine automatically enters frost protection. It reverts to standard operation once the temperature normalizes.
  • Overflow Protection: When the water tank exceeds a warning level, the air conditioner sounds an alarm, and the "FULL" indicator light flashes on the LED display. The unit requires manual drainage to resume operation.
  • Automatic Defrosting (Cool mode): Built-in defrosting function ensures normal operation after defrosting is complete.
  • Overheat Protection (Heat mode): To protect the unit's service life, the compressor and lower motor stop operating during Heat mode if overheating occurs, resuming once temperatures normalize.
  • Compressor Protection: A 3-minute delay booting function is implemented after the compressor turns off to extend its lifespan.
  • LCDI Safety Plug: Provides protection against arc faults in the power supply cord, reducing fire risk. Users must test the plug before initial use.
