1. Find skier weight and boot size/length
2. Power Box
Rottefella offers four different Power Box, which are selected based on a color code:
Green: soft
Blue: medium
Rottefella recommends green for small boots (<26.5 mondo), and
blue for large boots (>26.5 mondo). The bindings (small and large size) are
sold with these Power Box options as standard.

When the binding is attached, leave it in an open position.
Open the flex plate to the maximum. Squeeze the ski brake all the way
down to the shaft. Close the flex plate, release the ski brake.
The mounting of the binding is now complete.
The NTN binding has a sideways release mechanism, placed approximately
in the center, under the foot. The positioning is perfect in relation to the point
of rotation of the leg. The springs in the NTN binding can be pre tightened or
reduced in tightness, according to the wishes of the skier in regards to release
values. The binding/springs, when delivered from the producer, are set with a
middle value release setting (number 3). Release setting number 5, represent a
tight release setting and setting number 1, represent a soft release setting.
The forces needed for the boot to release sideways from the NTN binding, are
similar to the forces described in the ISO standard for sideways release in ski
bindings, but the NTN binding is not certified according to the ISO standards.
Telemark skiing is quite different from alpine skiing. In alpine, the skier’s foot is
always in the same position related to the ski. In telemark skiing, the skier’s foot
moves continuously, and the release values is therefore not static, but changing
according to the position related to the ski. This will sometimes create unexpected
situations, from where the binding will not release. Correct springs and
settings are chosen according to fig. 1
3. Release Settings
Rottefella recommends dividing skiers into three groups:
Beginner: Skies conservatively/low speed. Set value one below scale.
Average: Skies moderately/variety of speed. Set value according to scale.
Expert: Skies aggressively/high speed. Set value one above scale.
Note: For powder skiing, set value one below scale.
Note: If skiers age is above 50 years, set value one below scale.
4. Adjustment of Power Box
Adjust Power Tubes by turning them to the correct setting, using the printed
scale from 1-5 on the Power Box as reference. See NTN technical manual for
details regarding correct adjustment.
Warning!: Power should never be set above recommended
AT lever
Note! Boot/binding must be in the lower position before the AT lever is closed.
Tip:
- When closing the touring lock, make sure it is free of snow.
Note! The lock must be closed completely.
- In changing temperatures, +/- 0, icing in the touring mechanism is avoided
by using silicone spray.
1. Be aware of snow and weather conditions before skiing and take those into
account.
2. Observe all posted signs, markings and warnings in an area designated for

11. Always ski in control and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
12. Avoid other skiers ahead of you.
13. Do not stop where you obstruct an area being used by skiers or where you
are not visible from above.
14. Whenever starting downhill, look uphill and yield to others.
15. Know your limits. Stop skiing before you become fatigued

WARNING !
Never set Power Box to a higher value (release setting) than recommended in
the release form. To set a lower release value/setting than recommended is a
possible option. The release value/setting should always be within the range of 1-5 on
the Power Box indicator. To set release values/settings above our recommendations
can be dangerous and is done at your own risk.
