Oil filter renewal
To avoid draining the oil pump, it is essential
that the engine is filled with oil to the correct
level BEFORE the filter is removed. It is
therefore recommended that the engine oil is
renewed before work on the filter commences.
1. Clean the area around the filter head and
place a container beneath the filter.
2. Using a strap type filter wrench, unscrew
the filter anti-clockwise and discard it.
3. Smear the sealing ring of the new filter
with clean engine oil, and then fit the filter
tightening clockwise until it is securely in
position by hand or to 15Nm (13 lbf.ft).
DO NOT overtighten.
4. Start and run the engine. Do not rev the
engine until the oil pressure warning light
extinguishes. Check for oil leaks around
the filter and drain plug.
5. Stop the engine, wait a few minutes, then
check the oil level and top up if necessary.
