Overview

The Videofied CMA Keypad is a wireless security device designed for arming and disarming a security system, as well as initiating various panic alerts. It features a compact design with a 2-line, 16-character display and a numeric keypad with additional function keys. The keypad is powered by three Lithium LS14500 batteries, which are inserted in the same direction.

Function Description

The primary function of the CMA Keypad is to provide an interface for users to interact with their Videofied security system. This includes:

  • Arming and Disarming: The keypad supports multiple arming modes:

    • Fully Armed: Requires a user code followed by the [YES] key.
    • Special Mode 1 or 2: Requires the [1] or [2] key respectively, followed by a user code and the [YES] key. These modes are typically used for specific scenarios, such as arming only certain zones.
    • Perimeter Arming: Requires the [YES] key, followed by the [YES] key again. This mode usually arms only the perimeter sensors, allowing movement within the property.
    • Disarming: Requires a user code followed by the [YES] key.
  • Panic Alerts: The keypad can initiate different types of panic alerts:

    • Red Button Panic: Immediately triggers all sirens. This function can be activated or deactivated through the keypad's programmable features menu.
    • Silent Panic Alert: Initiated by entering a user code under constraint (or threat) followed by the [1] key. This sends a silent alarm to the monitoring station without triggering audible sirens. It can also be triggered by pressing a specific key on a remote control for 2 seconds.
    • Audible Panic Alert: Initiated by entering a user code under constraint (or threat) followed by the [2] key. This triggers an audible alarm on the sirens in addition to sending an alert to the monitoring station. It can also be triggered by pressing a specific key on a remote control for 2 seconds.
  • Special Characters: The keypad allows for the input of various special characters, similar to writing SMS messages on a cellular phone. Each numeric key (0-9) has multiple characters assigned to it, accessible by pressing the key multiple times. For example, the "1" key cycles through "space", ",", "?", "!", ";", ":", "#", and "1". The "0" key cycles through "+", "=", "/", "¥", "<", ">", "(", ")", and "0". The "@" key cycles through "$", "%", "&", "@", and "#".

  • Indicator LED: A built-in LED provides visual feedback on the keypad's status, such as when it's flashing during the recording process or indicating an alert.

  • Display: The 2-line, 16-character display shows system status, prompts, and menu options, guiding the user through various operations.

Usage Features

  • Wireless Operation: The keypad communicates wirelessly with the alarm panel, allowing for flexible placement within the property without the need for wiring.
  • Inactivity Timeout: The keypad becomes inactive after 30 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life. It can be revived by pressing any key, with the [YES] key being recommended as it does not trigger an action.
  • Recording Process: To integrate the keypad with the alarm panel, the panel must be in "Recording device mode." The keypad is then initialized by simultaneously pressing the [CLR] and [ESC NO] keys until its indicator flashes. This process also allows for testing the RF range.
  • Installer Code: Certain operations, such as recovering a deleted keypad or modifying programmable features, require the entry of an installer code for security purposes.
  • Multiple Keypads: The system supports adding multiple keypads to the same site. During the recording of a new keypad, it can be allocated to a geographical zone other than zone 1, though this may introduce a delay for the newly chosen zone.
  • Direction Arrows: These arrows are used to navigate through menus and options on the display, particularly when configuring programmable features like the panic button.
  • Capital/Small Letter Key: This key allows toggling between capital and small letters when entering text or codes.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Replacement: The keypad is powered by three Lithium LS14500 batteries. When the batteries need replacement, they should all be inserted in the same direction.
  • Troubleshooting - Keypad Not Recording: If the keypad fails to record on the panel, ensure the "PROGRAM BUTTON" on the panel has been pressed before attempting to record the keypad.
  • Troubleshooting - Retrieving a Deleted Keypad: If a keypad is accidentally deleted, its batteries should be removed. Then, press the "PROGRAM BUTTON" on the panel for one second (cover closed, indicator flashes once). Reinsert the batteries and initialize the keypad by simultaneously pressing [CLR] and [ESC NO] until the indicator flashes. After releasing, the installer code will need to be entered and validated with [YES] to recover the keypad.
  • Troubleshooting - Fixing a Faulty Keypad (without re-programming): If a keypad is faulty but the site does not need re-programming, press the "PROGRAM BUTTON" on the panel for one second (cover closed, indicator flashes once). Insert new batteries into the keypad. Press [CLR] and [ESC/NO] simultaneously until its indicator flashes and then release. The keypad should record. The installer code will need to be entered again on the keypad's demand. This process allows for testing the RF radio range and ensures the new keypad is operational. This operation must be carried out within a limited time of 15 seconds. It is important to delete the faulty keypad from the programming to avoid RF Supervision radio loss.
