When the lower tank runs out of cleaning solution, the pump sound will increase, and dirty water will stop entering the dome. At this point, the machine should be switched to the OFF position, and the recovery tank emptied into a toilet or outdoor drain. The recovery tank should then be rinsed, and the lower tank refilled with clean solution/water mixture. If nearing the end of the cleaning job, filling the lower tank halfway is sufficient.
For upholstery, a colorfastness test on a hidden area is recommended before cleaning. The hand tool lever is squeezed as the tool is pulled over the fabric, with slight overlapping strokes. If foam builds up, the tool should be pulled slightly faster or passed over the area a second time without squeezing the spray lever to vacuum up excess solution.
Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and trouble-free operation of the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3. Users are instructed to always ensure the machine is in the OFF position, unplugged, and the tanks are empty before performing any maintenance.
After each use, the vibrating brush should be cleaned. This involves unplugging the machine and, while wearing household rubber gloves, using a finger or an old comb to remove any debris from the brush. If the hand tool attachment was used, debris should also be removed from its vacuum slot.
The vacuum filter, located inside the clear plastic dome on the front of the machine, requires regular inspection and cleaning. If debris is present, the filter screen is removed by pushing it right and compressing the spring, then cleaned by running water through it from the inside to the outside. It is then replaced by compressing the spring wire and inserting the black end securely into place.
The solution tank filter screen, located in the fill opening of the lower tank, also needs inspection after each use. If debris is found, the screws holding the filter in place are removed, and the filter is cleaned under a tap, allowing water to run through it in the opposite direction from the normal filling flow. Before replacing the filter screen, the cylindrical filter mounted on the end of the solution line inside the lower tank should also be checked and cleaned if debris is present.
Carpet fibers and any lint should be periodically removed from the vacuum slot on the bottom front of the machine to ensure optimal airflow.
