Do you have a question about the Ruris DAC 510 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The RURIS DAC 510 is a shoulder brushcutter designed for efficient grass cutting and landscaping work. It is a robust and versatile tool, suitable for both general mowing and more demanding tasks like clearing shrubs and brambles.

Function Description:

The brushcutter operates as a complete unit, with the engine providing power to various cutting attachments. It is designed to be user-friendly, allowing for easy selection of mowing modes without extensive adjustments. The machine aims to provide maximum comfort and perfect operation, forming a unitary body with the user when worn with the harness. It can be used with different cutting tools, including an autocut head, 3-tooth, 4-tooth, 8-tooth, and 80-tooth blades, making it adaptable for various types of vegetation and terrains.

Usage Features:

Before operation, it is crucial to ensure the brushcutter is correctly assembled and that the cutting disc is firmly tightened. The user must wear appropriate protective equipment, including helmets, gloves, and protective footwear. A safety distance of at least 15 meters from other people or animals should be maintained during operation due to the risk of projected objects.

Fueling:

The fuel mixture is critical for the 2-stroke engine. It consists of 25 ml of RURIS 2TT-MAX oil (or an API TC/higher class oil) per liter of unleaded gasoline (min. 95 octane). The mixture should be prepared in a clean, separate container, thoroughly mixed, and not stored for more than 7 days. Always refuel with the engine off and cooled, in a well-ventilated area, away from open flames or sparks.

Starting the Engine:

  1. Prime the carburetor by pressing the gasoline pump 3 times.
  2. Position the choke flap in the closed position.
  3. Fully operate the throttle lever and lock it, then release it.
  4. Hold the mower firmly with your left hand and pull the starter rope with your right hand in two stages:
    • First stage: Gently pull until the string is pre-tensioned.
    • Second stage: Pull constantly until the first start symptom is heard.
  5. After the first start symptom, stop pulling the starter rope and switch the choke to the open position.
  6. Pull the starter rope again until the engine starts at full speed.
  7. To idle, squeeze and release the throttle lever. Never jerk the starter rope to avoid damaging the assembly.

Stopping the Engine:

  1. Release the throttle and let the engine run for about 1 minute.
  2. Switch the on-off switch to the "0" position.

Harness Adjustment:

The dual-balance harness is designed for comfort and proper weight distribution. It should be positioned on the shoulders and secured, with the safety located below the user's hip. The brushcutter should be balanced in the harness, not touching the ground. Adjust the fixing system on the transmission rod until the balance point is found, preventing the mower from leaning towards the engine or the cutting disc from touching the ground.

Mowing Methods:

  • Spiral or Figure 9 Method: Start mowing from the outside of the surface, moving either right or left. Avoid mowing in both directions to prevent stepping on cut hay.
  • Straight Mowing Method: Set a reference point and orient the handles consecutively right or left, depending on the desired mowing mode.
  • Slope or Ramp Mowing: Position yourself perpendicular to the slope axis and always lean on the foot of the ramp for safety.
  • Clearing Method (for shrubs): Use a perfectly chosen disc. Always start from the edge of the mowing area, never from the inside, to prevent accidents.
  • Autocut Method: Choose the appropriate wire type for the surface. The autocut head, with its two wires, automatically adjusts length by self-cutting against a knife on the protective device. It is effective in areas with obstacles, for aerating trees, and along curbs. To extend the wire, tap the autocutter lightly on the ground at full engine speed.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the brushcutter.

  • Before any maintenance: Ensure the engine is off and cool. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
  • Reducer Head: Fill with RURIS graphite grease. The grease level should be checked before each use, with approximately 20 grams capacity.
  • Cutting Disc/Autocut: Ensure correct mounting and firm tightening. If the cutting disc does not cut properly, it can be sharpened or replaced.
  • Air Filter: Clean before each use. Open the cover, remove the filter element, wash with warm water and detergent, and reinstall after drying. Do not use petroleum products for cleaning. Replace damaged air filters immediately to prevent dust and impurities from entering the carburetor and engine.
  • Carburetor Adjustment: Check and adjust as needed (service authorized).
  • Spark Plug: Clean and control regularly, replace as needed (service authorized).
  • Cooling: Clean regularly.
  • Fuel Filter: Replace every 25 hours.
  • Long-term Storage (over a week):
    1. Clean the mower.
    2. Empty the fuel tank.
    3. Start the mower and let it run until the carburetor is empty and the engine stops. This prevents gasoline evaporation and oil residue buildup.
    4. Store in a dry, covered place, out of reach of children and away from moisture.
    5. Lubricate all active metal parts with petroleum jelly.
    6. Do not store near flammable areas or exits. Moving the mower, whether for short or long distances, should only be done with the engine off. For complex interventions or sharpening the cutting disc, it is recommended to contact an authorized RURIS service.
