Function Description:
The RLT5030SG is an electric line trimmer that utilizes a nylon cutting line to efficiently trim grass and light weeds. It features a patented EasyEdge™ technology, allowing for a seamless transition between grass trimming and edging modes. In grass trimming mode, the motor housing is aligned for horizontal cutting, while in edging mode, it rotates approximately 90 degrees for vertical cutting. The trimmer is equipped with an automatic feed line spool that releases approximately one centimeter of line each time the unit is started, and a line trimming cut-off blade on the safety guard ensures the line is always at an optimum length for best cutting performance. Usage Features:
- Shaft Assembly: The trimmer features a telescopic shaft with an adjustable length to ensure comfortable operation. The lower shaft slides into the upper shaft and locks into place, designed for one-time assembly to save packaging space.
- Auxiliary Handle: An adjustable auxiliary front handle allows users to find a comfortable position and angle for operation.
- Cord Retainer: A cord retainer is provided to secure the extension cord, preventing accidental disconnection during use.
- Safety Guard and Plant Protector: A safety guard protects against thrown debris and houses the cut-off blade. A plant protector clicks into place between the safety guard and motor housing, shielding plants from the cutting line.
- EasyEdge™ Function: This patented technology allows users to switch between grass trimming and edging modes by tipping a foot pedal. To switch from trimming to edging, the user holds out the trimmer, tips the foot pedal down, and then pushes the trimmer down and slightly left to lock it into the 90-degree edging position. To switch back to trimming, the user lifts the trimmer slightly, tips the pedal, and pushes the trimmer down and slightly right to lock it into the grass trimming position.
- Operation: To start, connect the trimmer to the power supply, hold it firmly with both hands, and squeeze the trigger. Ensure the cutting head is slightly above the ground and not touching any objects when switching on. To stop, simply release the trigger.
- Grass Cutting Tips: For optimal results, cut grass by moving the trimmer from right to left or left to right with the line parallel to the ground, proceeding slowly. High grass should be cut in layers, starting from the top. Dry grass yields better results than damp or wet grass. Always allow the line to rotate at top speed to avoid overloading the trimmer.
- Safety Precautions: Users are advised to wear heavy, long trousers, boots, gloves, and safety glasses or goggles. Bystanders, especially children and pets, should be kept at least 15m away from the operating area. The trimmer should not be operated in poor lighting, when tired, ill, or under the influence of substances. The power cord and extension cable must be kept clear of the cutting line and inspected for damage before each use.
Maintenance Features:
- Regular Cleaning: After each use, the trimmer, spool, and safety guard should be cleaned of grass and soil. Air slots should be kept clear of debris. The handles should be kept dry, clean, and free from debris.
- Spool Replacement: To replace the spool, switch off and disconnect the trimmer from the mains supply. Press both spool cover lock buttons, remove the cover, replace the spool, feed the nylon lines through the eyelets, and then secure the spool cover.
- Cutting Line Replacement: Remove the empty spool. The spool requires 2x4m lengths of 1.5mm twist cutting line. Feed the new lines through the holes in the spool, wind neatly in the direction of the arrows, secure the lines to the holding slots, feed them through the eyelets of the cutting head, and then replace the spool cover.
- General Maintenance: The product should be maintained with care, following instructions for changing accessories. It should be kept dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Before making adjustments or repairs, unplug the product. Regularly check for damaged parts, alignment of moving parts, binding, or breakage. Any damaged parts or power connection issues should be repaired or replaced by a Ryobi authorised service centre using identical replacement parts.
- Storage: When not in use, the trimmer should be stored indoors in a dry place, out of reach of children, or locked up to prevent unauthorised use or damage.
