Overview

This document describes two devices: the RYOBI 18V Bug Zapper (P29014) and the RYOBI 18V Brushless Compact Blower (PSBLB01).

RYOBI 18V Bug Zapper (P29014)

Function Description

The RYOBI 18V Bug Zapper is a portable lantern designed to attract and kill mosquitoes and other flying insects using UV light, while also providing area lighting. It operates on an 18V battery pack and is suitable for outdoor use. The device features a bug tray for collecting dead insects, which can be easily removed and emptied.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Grid Voltage: 2550 V
  • UV LED Light: 10.6 Watts
  • Area Light Lumens: 9 (low), 18 (medium), and 30 (high)
  • Power Source: 18V battery pack (Li-ion)

Usage Features

The bug zapper offers independent control for its UV light and area light functions.

Handle Attachment: The handle (D) is attached by looping its unattached end around the top of the bug zapper, inserting the round tab through the wide end of the hole (B) in the handle, and pulling the handle down until the tab is inside the narrow end of the hole and secure (C).

Battery Installation/Removal: To install the battery pack (B), align it with the battery port (C) and push it into the product until the latches (A) snap into place. Ensure the battery pack is fully seated and secure. To remove, depress the latches on the battery pack and pull it away from the product.

Area Light Operation: The area light (B) can be used with or without the UV light. After inserting a battery pack, the area light is initially OFF. Pressing the area light button (B) cycles through High, Medium, Low, and Off settings.

UV Light Operation: The UV light (A) attracts and kills flying insects. It can be set to run for 2, 4, or 6 hours. Pressing the UV light button (A) cycles through these timer settings and Off, indicated by LED indicators (C). The UV light and area light functions are independent.

Operating Tips:

  • For best results, hang the product 6 to 7 ft. above the ground.
  • Dead insects and debris accumulate in the bug tray (E). The bug tray should be removed and emptied frequently. To clean, pull it away, dump the waste, and use a damp cloth if necessary. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.
  • The product can withstand moderate rainfall but should be stored indoors during severe weather.

Maintenance Features

General Maintenance:

  • Avoid using solvents on plastic parts. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, and grease.
  • Do not allow brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, or penetrating oils to contact plastic parts, as these can cause damage.
  • Periodically remove the battery pack and use a soft brush or forced air to remove dead insects or debris from the product.
  • Inspect the entire product for damaged, missing, or loose parts (screws, nuts, bolts, caps). Tighten all fasteners and replace any damaged or missing parts before use.

Light Bulb Replacement: To replace the light bulb (B):

  1. Remove the battery pack.
  2. Twist the upper housing (A) counterclockwise to loosen it.
  3. Remove the upper housing from the base (C).
  4. Remove the old light bulb and replace it with an identical replacement bulb (part number 099244001022).
  5. Attach the upper housing to the base and turn it clockwise to tighten.

Storage:

  • Clean all foreign material from the bug zapper.
  • Store indoors in a dry, locked-up place, out of reach of children.
  • Keep away from corrosive agents like garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
