This document describes the Ryobi RLT1825M13, RLT1825M20, RLT1825MLL13, and OLT1825M cordless lawn trimmer/edge trimmer.

Function Description

The cordless lawn trimmer/edge trimmer is designed for adults who have read and understood the instructions and warnings in this manual. It is intended for outdoor use in a well-ventilated area, requiring two-handed operation for adequate control. When fitted with the lawn trimmer head and appropriate guard, the product is used for cutting long grass, pulpy weed, and similar vegetation at or about ground level. The cutting plane should be approximately parallel to the ground surface when trimming and approximately vertical when edging. The product is not intended for cutting or trimming hedges, bushes, or other vegetation where the cutting plane is not parallel to the ground surface. It should not be used for any other purpose.

Usage Features

Before operating the product, it is essential to read and understand all instructions, warnings, and safety instructions.

  • Safety Precautions:
    • Wear full eye and hearing protection. Head protection should be worn if there is a risk of falling objects.
    • Wear heavy long trousers, boots, and gloves. Avoid loose-fitting clothing, short trousers, jewellery, or bare feet.
    • Secure long hair above shoulder level to prevent entanglement.
    • Keep bystanders, children, and pets at least 15 m away from the operating area. Stop the product if anyone enters the area.
    • Never use the product when tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medicine.
    • Ensure the line cut-off blade in the guard is properly positioned and secured before each use.
    • Do not use metal blades. Only use the manufacturer’s replacement cutting line.
    • Operate in daylight or good artificial light.
    • Avoid using on wet grass.
    • Maintain proper footing and balance, especially on slopes.
    • Do not walk backwards; always walk, never run.
    • Keep the head attachment below waist level.
    • Never operate without all guards, deflectors, and handles properly and securely attached.
    • Be aware that cutting elements continue to rotate after the motor is switched off.
    • Clear the working area of wires, sticks, stones, and debris that could be thrown by the cutter.
  • Battery Use and Care:
    • Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer.
    • Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.
    • When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects to prevent shorting.
    • Avoid contact with liquid ejected from the battery under abusive conditions; flush with water if contact occurs, and seek medical help if liquid contacts eyes.
  • Risk Reduction:
    • To reduce vibration effects, keep your body warm in cold weather, wear gloves, exercise to increase blood circulation after operation, and take frequent work breaks.
    • Limit exposure to noise by wearing hearing protection.
    • Limit exposure to flying debris by wearing eye protection at all times.

Maintenance Features

Maintenance requires extreme care and knowledge and should be performed only by a qualified service technician. For service, it is recommended to bring the product to the nearest authorized service center. Only identical replacement parts should be used.

  • General Maintenance:
    • Switch off and remove the battery pack before any maintenance or cleaning work.
    • Adjustments and repairs described in this manual can be performed by the user; for other repairs, contact an authorized service center.
    • For replacement line, use only nylon filament line of the diameter described in the specification table.
    • After extending new cutter line, always return the product to its normal operating position before starting.
    • After each use, clean the product with a soft dry cloth.
    • Check all nuts, bolts, and screws at frequent intervals for proper tightness.
    • Any damaged or unreadable labels should be replaced by an authorized service center.
  • Transportation and Storage:
    • Stop the product, remove the battery pack, and allow it to cool down before storing or transporting.
    • Clean all foreign material from the product.
    • Do not store or transport the product with batteries fitted; remove and secure them separately.
    • Store the product in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place inaccessible to children, away from corrosive agents. Do not store outdoors.
    • For transportation in vehicles, secure the product against movement or falling.
  • Transporting Lithium Batteries:
    • Transport batteries in accordance with local and national provisions and regulations.
    • Protect exposed connectors with insulating, non-conductive caps or tape.
    • Do not transport cracked or leaking batteries. Check with the forwarding company for further advice.
