- Wi-Fi Connection: Connects to a 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n home Wi-Fi network. This enables software updates, shop functionality, Amazon Smart Reorders for accessory replenishment, and Alexa voice control (if available in your country). Initial setup requires connecting and updating the machine.
- Brewing Drinks:
- General Steps: Fill the water tank and bean hopper, place one or two cups under the adjustable dispensing spout, then select the desired drink from the 'Drinks' menu. The spout height can be adjusted.
- Milk-Based Drinks: Fill the milk container with cold milk (directly from the fridge for best results), connect the flexible milk tube to the cappuccinatore, place the metal milk tube in the container, then select the desired milk-based drink. The machine performs a "HygieSteam Shot" immediately after milk dispensing to quickly rinse the internal milk system.
- Pre-Ground Coffee: Open the pre-ground coffee compartment, add one measuring spoon of pre-ground coffee, close the lid, then select the pre-ground coffee icon from the 'Drinks' menu. Coffee strength and multiple servings cannot be adjusted when using pre-ground coffee.
- Hot Water Dispensing: Ensure the internal cappuccinatore is correctly attached, place a cup under the spout, select 'Hot Water', and adjust quantity/temperature.
- Adjusting Grind Setting: The grind setting knob inside the bean container allows adjustment of coffee strength (12 settings). Finer grind results in stronger coffee. It's recommended not to adjust the grind setting until 100-150 cups have been brewed.
- Restoring Factory Settings: The machine can be reset to default settings at any time via the 'Settings' menu.
Maintenance Features:
The machine provides notifications for when cleaning and maintenance are required.
- AquaClean Water Filter:
- Status Indication: Filter status is shown as a percentage in the 'Status' menu. Notifications prompt users to buy a new filter (at 10% or less) or replace it (at 0%).
- Activation: New AquaClean filters must be activated via the 'Status' menu after installation. The filter needs to be soaked in water before activation to prevent air from entering the machine.
- Replacement: Replace the AquaClean filter at least every 3 months, or when indicated by the machine (after 95 liters of water). If replacement is delayed, descaling is required first.
- Brew Group:
- Removal/Insertion: Detailed video instructions for removal, insertion, and cleaning are available on www.saeco.com/care. Always empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container when removing the brew group. Ensure correct positioning during re-insertion.
- Cleaning: Weekly cleaning under the tap is recommended. Monthly cleaning with Philips coffee oil remover tablets is also available.
- Lubrication: Lubricate the brew group every 2 months with the supplied grease on the piston, shaft, and guiding rails.
- Internal Cappuccinatore:
- Cleaning Programs: The machine indicates when cleaning is needed. Programs include "HygieSteam Shot" (quick rinse with steam after milk dispensing), "HygieSteam" (thorough steam cleaning of the milk system), and "Deep Milk Clean" (thorough cleaning with Philips milk circuit cleaner).
- Manual Cleaning: Weekly disassembly and rinsing of all parts under the tap with dishwashing liquid is recommended. Monthly deep cleaning is also available.
- Descaling Procedure: Use only Philips descaler. The machine prompts for descaling, or it can be initiated manually via the 'Status' menu. The procedure involves a descaling cycle and a rinsing cycle (approx. 30 minutes). If interrupted, a manual rinsing cycle is required.
- Other Components:
- Pre-ground Coffee Compartment: Check weekly for blockages and clean by unplugging the machine, removing the brew group, opening the lid, and using a spoon handle to dislodge clogged coffee.
- Coffee Grounds Container: Empty when prompted by the machine and clean weekly under the tap or in the dishwasher (front panel is not dishwasher safe).
- Drip Tray: Empty daily or when the 'drip tray full' indicator appears, and clean weekly under the tap or in the dishwasher.
- Water Tank: Rinse weekly under the tap.
- Machine Front: Clean weekly with a non-abrasive cloth.
Software Updates:
Regular software updates are essential for privacy and proper functioning. Updates can be set to automatic or manual. Automatic updates require the machine to be plugged in and Wi-Fi enabled overnight. Mandatory firmware updates start automatically in standby mode, during which the machine cannot be used.
