Do you have a question about the SAFEMATIC IF-103 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The SAFEMATIC IF-103 is a user interface designed for MultiLube lubrication systems, enabling lubrication programming, alarm resetting, and lubrication event monitoring.

Function Description:

The IF-103 serves as the primary control and display unit for the MultiLube system. It allows users to monitor the system's operational status, view set values, and manage lubrication cycles. The interface includes a 3-character display with 3 decimal points, LED-signals for lubrication lines and pressurization, browsing buttons, and a SET button for various functions.

LED-Signals:

  • LED 1 (Green): Lit when main line 1 is pressurized or during the interval after main line 1 was last pressurized.
  • LED 1 (Red, blinking): Indicates main line 1 is in pressure alarm mode.
  • LED 2 (Green): Lit when main line 2 is pressurized or during the interval after main line 2 was last pressurized.
  • LED 2 (Red, blinking): Indicates main line 2 is in pressure alarm mode.
  • LED P (Green): Lit when the pressurization phase is in progress.
  • LED P (Red, blinking): Indicates the pumping unit is in low level alarm mode.

Buttons:

  • Up Arrow (↑):
    • Normal operation mode: Browses set values on the display.
    • Setting mode: Changes the value on the display.
  • Right Arrow (→):
    • Normal operation mode: Browses line pressure displays.
    • Setting mode: Moves to the next character of the display.
    • When browsing set values: Returns to normal mode.
  • SET Button:
    • Normal mode: Starts extra lubrication, stops pressurization, or resets an alarm.
    • Setting mode: Saves the changed value.
    • When browsing set values: Enters setting mode.
    • A momentary illumination of all green LEDs confirms a button press.

Usage Features:

Normal Mode Operation:

  • Display Powersave Mode: After three minutes of inactivity, the display enters powersave mode, with only decimal points blinking. Lubrication events continue as programmed. Pressing any button or an alarm event returns the display to normal mode.
  • Interval Counting: The display shows the time elapsed since the last pressurization in hours and minutes. Green LED-signals for line 1 or 2 indicate which line was last pressurized. Interval counting is paused during alarm mode, system turned off, closed interlocking switch, or when the system is turned off (maximum pressurization time = 0).
  • Pressurization: Pressurization time is shown in seconds. Green LED-signal P indicates pressurization in progress. Pressurization can be stopped using the SET button.
  • Extra Lubrication: Can be initiated with the SET button when the system is not in alarm mode, turned off, or pressurizing. In dual-line systems, both lines are pressurized once, starting with the next line in the sequence. In single-line systems, the line is pressurized once. Extra lubrication can be stopped with the SET button.
  • Pressure Discharge (dC): In pressure transmitter operation, new pressurization starts only after line pressure drops below the set low limit. In pressure switch operation, new pressurization starts after a set delay time. During pressure discharge, the display shows phase code "dC".

Phase Codes (Normal and Alarm Mode):

  • dC: Pressure discharge waiting time (disCharge).
  • Loc: Interlocking switch is closed (Locked).
  • OFF: System is turned off.
  • AGr: Lubricant barrel low level alarm (Alarm, Grease).
  • ALP: Alarm, low pressure (line pressure does not rise high enough during pressurization time).
  • AHP: Alarm, high pressure (line pressure is not low enough when pressurization phase starts).
  • Aln: Alarm from LG-ind doser operation indicators (used only if LG-ind doser operation indicators are in use).

Normal Mode Displays (Browsing with ↑ button):

  • Cou: Lubrication cycle counter (Cycle Counter). Decimal points separate thousands (e.g., 49.9 = 49,999).
  • C: Lubrication cycle set value [h.mm].
  • P: Maximum pressurization time set value [s].
  • PLo: Low limit pressure set value [bar/psi] (used only in pressure transmitter operation).
  • PHi: High limit pressure set value [bar/psi] (used only in pressure transmitter operation).
    • Pressure unit (bar or psi) depends on basic system settings. In psi reading, decimal points separate thousands (e.g., 1.02 = 1020 psi).

Line Pressure Displays (Browsing with → button):

  • Pressure Transmitter Operation: Displays line 1 pressure (P1) and line 2 pressure (P2) alternately. If line 2 is not present, the program returns to the phase code. If no signal from the pressure transmitter is detected, "---" is displayed.
  • Pressure Switch Operation: Displays the status of line 1 pressure switch (P1) and line 2 pressure switch (P2) alternately. "on" indicates a closed contact, and "oF" indicates an open contact.

Power Failure:

Set values and program status are preserved in memory. Operation resumes from the previous status after power is restored. Pressurization that was stopped will restart for the same line. Interval time is not counted during power failures.

Alarms:

The system enters alarm mode when a red LED-signal for line 1, line 2, or pressurization P is blinking.

  • Low Level Alarm (AGr): Triggered when the lubricant barrel is empty (low level switch closed). "AGr" blinks on the display, and the red LED-signal P blinks. The alarm is reset by pressing the SET button after the low level switch is open.
  • Pressure Alarm:
    • High Pressure Alarm (AHP): Triggered if line pressure is not low enough when pressurization starts. "AHP" blinks, and the red LED-signal for the affected line blinks.
      • Pressure Transmitter: Alarm if line pressure is above the set low limit. Reset by SET button when pressure is below the low limit.
      • Pressure Switch: Alarm if pressure switch is closed. Reset by SET button when pressure switch opens.
    • Low Pressure Alarm (ALP): Triggered if line pressure does not rise high enough during pressurization time. "ALP" blinks, and the red LED-signal for the affected line blinks.
      • Pressure Transmitter: Alarm if line pressure does not reach the set high limit within maximum pressurization time. Reset by SET button.
      • Pressure Switch: Alarm if pressure switch does not close within maximum pressurization time. Reset by SET button.
  • Alarm from LG-ind Doser Operation Indicator (Aln): Triggered if the LG-ind doser operation indicator does not sense doser operation during a lubrication cycle (when parameter LGI is set to YES). "Aln" is displayed. Lubrication continues normally despite this alarm. Reset by SET button.

Settings (Password-Protected):

All settings are password-protected. The default password is 103.

  • Entering Password:
    1. Select the code for the setting to be changed (↑ button).
    2. Press SET. Display shows "PPP".
    3. The first character blinks. Use ↑ to select the first number of the password.
    4. Use → to move to the next character.
    5. Repeat for all three numbers.
    6. Press SET. If correct, "ACC" is displayed, and settings can be changed for 10 minutes. If incorrect, "Err" is displayed, and the display returns to normal mode.
  • Entering Settings:
    1. Select the code for the setting to be changed (↑ button).
    2. Press SET. The first number of the value blinks.
    3. Use ↑ to select the desired number.
    4. Use → to move to the next number.
    5. Press SET to save the value.
    6. Exit setting mode with →. The display returns to normal mode automatically after 1 minute of inactivity.
