Overview

This document outlines the operation and maintenance of the SAGA SAFE for DCP series, version 7.0, a hotel safe designed for secure storage. It details how to program various functions, use the safe, and interpret display messages.

Function Description

The SAGA SAFE allows users to store valuables securely with programmable access codes. It supports both personal and hotel modes, offering flexibility for different environments. Key functions include:

  • Code Appearance Control: Users can choose whether their input code is displayed on the screen or hidden (showing "--------") for enhanced privacy. This setting can be permanently configured in programming mode or temporarily activated using a hotkey.
  • Combination Code Digits: The safe supports personal codes ranging from 3 to 6 digits, allowing for varying levels of security based on user preference.
  • Keypad Auto-Lock: To prevent unauthorized access through brute-force attempts, the keypad can be configured to auto-lock for a specified duration (0, 15, or 30 minutes) after a consecutive number of incorrect code or card entries (4 wrong attempts).
  • Time Delay Before Opening: An optional time delay can be set before the safe opens, ranging from 0 to 24 minutes. This feature adds an extra layer of security, particularly useful in situations where immediate access might be undesirable.
  • Code Number Appearance After Door Closure: Similar to input code appearance, users can decide whether the code number is shown on the screen after the safe's door is closed.
  • Operation Mode Setup:
    • Personal Mode: Suitable for private use, this mode remembers the last user code or credit card used. To set a new code or card, the system power must be reset.
    • Hotel Mode: Specifically designed for hotels, this mode allows a new code or credit card to be set discretionarily each time the door is opened, simplifying guest use.
    • Safety Mode: This mode offers double security by requiring both a code and a credit card for operation. It remembers the last code and card used.
  • Master Code and Master Card Management: The safe supports the use of a master code, a master card, or both, for administrative access and emergency overrides. The master code is a 6-digit code, and the master card uses a magnetic strip.
  • System Date and Time: The safe displays the current system date and time, which can be reset in programming mode.
  • Audit Trail: The safe records the latest 100 opening events, providing an audit trail of who accessed the safe, when, and by what method. This feature is crucial for security monitoring and troubleshooting.
