Overview

The SALAV STM-402 Steam Mop is a household appliance designed for cleaning heat-resistant surfaces using high-temperature steam. It is not suitable for unsealed wooden flooring, soft plastic, glass, walls, counters, leather, unglazed ceramic floors, or wooden furniture. The steam mop is capable of killing up to 99.9% of germs and bacteria on cleaned surfaces.

Function Description:

The steam mop operates by heating water in its reservoir to produce high-temperature steam, which is then applied to surfaces through a mop pad attached to the mop head. It features a telescopic handle pole for adjustable height, a quick clamp for securing the handle length, and a main body that houses the water reservoir and heating element. The device is designed for easy operation with a flexible mop head that can rotate 360 degrees, allowing for cleaning in various angles and hard-to-reach areas. A triangle mop head design specifically aids in cleaning corners. For enhanced visibility during cleaning, the mop head is equipped with an LED light. The appliance also incorporates a safety feature where it automatically turns to standby mode when the main body is placed vertically to the ground. It is important to use the mop pad at all times during operation and to ensure it is firmly attached. For carpet cleaning, a carpet glider accessory is provided, which the mop head with the attached mop pad sits on.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model: STM-402
  • Water Tank Capacity: 410ML
  • Steam Ready Time: 45 seconds
  • Input Voltage: 120V~/60Hz
  • Output Power: 1100W

Usage Features:

  1. Assembly: The steam mop requires initial assembly. This involves opening the quick clamp, adjusting the telescopic handle pole to the desired length, and then closing the quick clamp to lock it in place. The telescopic pole is then inserted into the main body of the steam mop.
  2. Mop Pad Attachment: The mop pad is secured firmly to the bottom of the mop head.
  3. Water Filling: The water reservoir cover is opened, and the reservoir is filled with water using the provided measuring cup. It is crucial not to overfill the reservoir and to snap the cover back on before use. Only cold water should be used; hot water, cleaning agents, scented perfumes, oils, or other chemicals can damage the appliance.
  4. Operation: After plugging in the steam mop, the power button is pressed to turn it on. The desired steam level (LOW or HIGH) is selected. The device takes approximately 45 seconds to heat up and be ready for use.
  5. Carpet Cleaning: For cleaning carpets, the mop pad must be firmly attached to the mop head, and then the mop head is placed on top of the carpet glider accessory.
  6. Safety Precautions:
    • Always ensure the appliance is completely assembled and the water reservoir is full before use.
    • Test the appliance on a small, inconspicuous spot before cleaning.
    • Avoid placing the appliance in the same spot for more than 10 seconds to prevent damage from heavy heating.
    • Never direct the steam mop at people, animals, plants, or other sensitive objects.
    • Do not touch the bottom of the appliance during operation.
    • Use only on flat, horizontal surfaces and avoid tilting or turning the appliance over when in use.
    • Never operate the steam mop without water or without the mop pad.
    • Do not leave the appliance unattended while in operation.
    • Unplug the appliance by grasping the plug, not by pulling the cord.
    • Using an extension cord is not recommended due to potential overheating or overload.
    • Inspect the mop pad for wear or damage before each use; a worn or damaged pad can harm flooring.
    • The appliance is not intended for use by individuals with limited physical, sensory, or mental abilities, or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised.

Maintenance Features:

  1. Cool Down: After use, turn off the power and unplug the steam mop. Allow it to cool down completely for about 30 minutes before performing any maintenance.
  2. Draining Water: To drain water, press the release button to unlock the handle, then pull out the handle.
  3. Mop Pad Cleaning: The mop pad can be removed for cleaning.
  4. Storage: After cooling, the telescopic handle pole can be installed back into the main body. The power cord can be wrapped around the cord hooks for neat storage. The appliance should be stored indoors in a cool, dry place.
  5. Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common issues such as the appliance not turning on (check if plugged in, check household power/fuse), failing to steam with the power light on (water tank empty, needs more warm-up time), and automatic shut-off during cleaning (water tank empty). For an empty water tank, the appliance needs to cool down before refilling.
