Overview

This document is a user manual for a Samsung Dryer, model DVE(G)50M7450*. It provides comprehensive information on safety, installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and specifications.

Function Description:

The Samsung Dryer is designed to efficiently dry clothes. It offers various drying cycles, including Sensor Dry cycles that detect moisture levels and stop automatically, and Manual Dry cycles where users can set the drying time. Additionally, it features Steam Cycles to reduce wrinkles and odors, and a Child Lock function for safety. The dryer is equipped with a lint filter that needs to be cleaned before or after each load to prevent fire hazards and maintain optimal performance.

Important Technical Specifications:

The dryer is a front-loading model with dimensions:

  • Height: 45.0 inches (114.4 cm) for the product, 48.0 inches (121.9 cm) required for installation.
  • Width: 27.0 inches (68.6 cm) for the product, 29.0 inches (73.7 cm) required for installation.

  • Width with door open 130°: 46.47 inches (118.0 cm) for the product, 51.47 inches (130.7 cm) required for installation.
  • Water pressure: 20-116 psi (137-800 kPa).
  • NET weight: Electric models are 125.7 lb (57 kg), Gas models are 127.9 lb (58 kg).
  • Heater rating: Electric models are 5300 W, Gas models are 22000 BTU/hr.

Installation Requirements:

The dryer requires a grounded electrical outlet, and for electric models, a power cord (sold separately in the U.S.). Gas models require gas lines that comply with national and local regulations. An exhaust system made of rigid metal or flexible stiff-walled metal exhaust ducting is mandatory. Flexible plastic venting materials are not recommended due to collapse, crushing, and lint trapping, which can obstruct airflow and increase fire risk. The exhaust duct should be 4 inches (10.2 cm) in diameter. Maximum duct lengths vary based on the number of 90° elbows, ranging from 80 ft (24.4 m) for 0 elbows to 47 ft (14.3 m) for 3 elbows with rigid ducts. For short-run installations, these lengths are slightly reduced. Static pressure in the exhaust system must not exceed 0.83 inches of water column. The dryer must be exhausted outdoors. Minimum clearances for alcove or closet installation are specified: 2” in front, 17” on top, 1” on either side, and 5.9 in. (150 mm) in the back. For garage installations, the dryer must be at least 18 inches (460 mm) above the floor. Electrical connections for U.S. electric models typically require a 120/240 volt, 60 Hz AC service with a 30-ampere fuse or circuit breaker. Gas models require a 120 volt, 60 Hz AC service with a 15-ampere fuse or circuit breaker. Grounding instructions are provided for both 3-wire and 4-wire systems. The manual also details how to connect the water hose for steam functions and how to level the dryer for optimal performance. A Vent Blockage Test is available to check the duct system after installation.

Usage Features:

The dryer features a control panel with a Cycle Selector, Dry Level, Temperature, and Time settings.

  • Cycle Selector: Allows selection of various Sensor Dry (NORMAL, HEAVY DUTY, BEDDING, PERM PRESS, DELICATES, TOWELS) and Manual Dry (TIME DRY, QUICK DRY) cycles, as well as Steam Cycles (REFRESH, WRINKLE AWAY, STEAM SANITIZE).
  • Dry Level: Adjusts the dryness for Sensor Dry and Steam Cycles (not available for STEAM SANITIZE). Options include Very Dry, More Dry, and Damp Dry.
  • Temp.: Changes the drying temperature (High, Medium, Low, Extra Low).
  • Time: Adjusts drying time for Manual Dry cycles.
  • Digital Graphic Display: Shows cycle information, time, and status.
  • Eco Dry: Available for NORMAL and TIME DRY, this function extends drying time to reduce power consumption. It is enabled by default.
  • Adjust Time: Used to change set time in Manual Dry cycles and WRINKLE AWAY.
  • Wrinkle Prevent: Provides 180 minutes of intermittent tumbling in unheated air at the end of a cycle to reduce wrinkling.
  • POWER: Turns the dryer on/off.
  • START/PAUSE: Starts or stops operation.
  • Drum Light: Can be turned on by pressing and holding "Time" for 3 seconds. Automatically turns off after 5 minutes of inactivity.
  • Sound On/Off: Activated/deactivated by pressing and holding "Eco Dry" for 3 seconds.
  • Smart Care: Allows users to check dryer status and information codes via a smartphone app.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning is essential for optimal performance and longevity.

  • Feature panel: Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive substances and direct spraying of liquid cleaners.
  • Tumbler: Remove stains with an all-purpose cleaner. Tumble old towels or rags to remove residual stains.
  • Powder coat tumbler: Clean with a damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
  • Dryer exterior: Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Protect from sharp objects.
  • Exhaust system: Check and clean annually or regularly. The external exhaust hood should be cleaned more frequently.
  • Lint filter: Must be cleaned before or after every load to prevent fire and maintain performance. Do not operate the dryer without the lint filter or with a damaged one.

The manual also includes a fabric care chart with symbols for washing, bleaching, drying, and ironing temperatures, as well as warning symbols for laundering. Troubleshooting steps are provided for common issues like the dryer not running, not heating, not drying, being noisy, drying unevenly, or having odors. Information codes are listed with corresponding actions to help diagnose and resolve problems.
