Overview

This document describes the Samsung HW-QS730D Soundbar, a device designed to enhance audio experiences, particularly when paired with a Samsung TV. It covers various aspects of the soundbar's functionality, connectivity, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Samsung HW-QS730D is a soundbar system that includes a main unit and a wireless subwoofer. Its primary function is to provide high-quality audio output for televisions and other external devices, offering a more immersive sound experience than typical TV speakers. The soundbar supports various audio input methods, including HDMI, optical digital audio, and wireless Bluetooth connectivity.

A key feature of this soundbar is its compatibility with Samsung's Q-Symphony function. When connected to a compatible Samsung TV, Q-Symphony allows the soundbar and the TV's internal speakers to play sound simultaneously. This creates a richer, more three-dimensional surround sound effect, enhancing the overall audio immersion. The soundbar also supports SpaceFit Sound, which automatically optimizes the sound to fit the acoustics of your room, ensuring optimal audio performance regardless of the environment.

The soundbar is designed for continuous use and can be fully turned off by disconnecting the AC plug from the wall outlet. It is intended for personal use and not for industrial applications.

Usage Features

The soundbar offers multiple ways to connect to your devices:

  • Wired Connections:

    • HDMI: The soundbar has HDMI inputs and an HDMI TO TV (eARC/ARC) port. This allows for simultaneous digital video and audio signal input from external devices and connection to a TV's HDMI jack. The recommended cable is an HDMI cable certified by HDMI.org.
    • Digital Audio In (Optical): An optical digital input allows connection to the digital (optical) output of an external device, such as a TV. When using an optical cable, any protective covers on the terminals should be removed.
    • USB (Service Port): A USB port is available for upgrading the product's software, ensuring the soundbar stays up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.
  • Wireless Connections:

    • Bluetooth: The soundbar can connect wirelessly to external devices via Bluetooth. To pair, users press the (Source) button on the soundbar or remote to select "BT PAIRING" mode, then select "[AV] Samsung Soundbar QS730D" from their device's Bluetooth list. The soundbar can remember previously connected devices, making reconnection easier.
    • Wi-Fi (Wireless Network): The soundbar can also connect to a mobile device via a wireless network (Wi-Fi). This requires downloading the SmartThings app on a mobile device, connecting the mobile device to the Wi-Fi network, and then adding the soundbar to the SmartThings app. This enables control and streaming capabilities over Wi-Fi.
  • Remote Control: The soundbar comes with a remote control for convenient operation, allowing users to adjust volume, change sources, and access other functions from a distance.

  • Subwoofer Connection: The subwoofer connects wirelessly to the main soundbar unit. The LINK LED indicator on the subwoofer will blink blue during the connection process and glow a solid blue once a connection is established. If the connection is lost, manual reconnection can be initiated by pressing the ID SET button on the subwoofer and then the (Volume) button on the remote control for 5 seconds.

  • Top Panel Controls: The top panel of the soundbar features buttons for Power, Volume, and Source selection, along with a display for status information.

Maintenance Features

The manual emphasizes several safety and maintenance guidelines to ensure the longevity and proper functioning of the soundbar:

  • Power Supply: Ensure the AC power supply in your home matches the requirements listed on the product's identification sticker. To fully turn off the unit, the AC plug must be disconnected from the wall outlet. It is recommended to unplug the unit during lightning storms or when it will be unused for long periods to prevent damage from voltage peaks.
  • Placement and Ventilation: Install the product horizontally on a suitable base with adequate space (3-4 inches) around it for ventilation. Ensure ventilation slots are not covered. Avoid placing the unit on amplifiers or other equipment that may become hot.
  • Environmental Protection:
    • Do not expose the unit to rain, moisture, dripping, or splashing. Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the apparatus.
    • Protect the product from direct sunlight, excessive heat (e.g., a fireplace), or equipment creating strong magnetic or electric fields.
    • Avoid storing the unit in cold temperatures. If transported during winter, allow approximately 2 hours for the unit to reach room temperature before use to prevent condensation.
  • Cleaning: Clean the unit only with a dry cloth.
  • Servicing: Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required if the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as a damaged power-supply cord or plug, liquid spilled, objects fallen into the apparatus, exposure to rain or moisture, abnormal operation, or if it has been dropped.
  • Battery Handling: The batteries used with the product contain chemicals harmful to the environment. Do not dispose of them in general household trash. Do not expose batteries to excess heat, direct sunlight, or fire. Do not short circuit, disassemble, or overheat the battery. Replace batteries only with the same or equivalent type to avoid the danger of explosion if replaced incorrectly.
  • Software Updates: The USB service port allows for software upgrades, which can improve performance and add new features.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting section to address common issues such as no sound, sound output from only one speaker, remote control malfunction, and Bluetooth connection problems. It advises users to check power connections, cable connections, and settings before contacting customer service. For issues like sound drops or interference, it suggests checking for obstacles, distance from other devices, and potential interference sources.
  • Recycling: Dispose of unwanted electronics through an approved recycler. Batteries should also be recycled appropriately and not disposed of in fire.
