Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for the installation of Samsung Videowall products, covering preparation, installation procedures, and thermal management guidelines. It is intended for Samsung employees and authorized partners, containing confidential information.

Preparation for Installation

Visual Inspection:

Before installation, a visual inspection of the panels is crucial.

  • Always use the bottom box for support during the inspection.
  • Check the panel condition immediately after unboxing and connect a source signal to the screens to verify functionality and detect any defects. Ensure a gap of at least 20 mm from the protection sheet.

Rotation:

If the product is to be used in portrait orientation, rotate it clockwise.

Non-Installation Conditions:

Certain installation scenarios are not supported:

  • Do not install this model on a ceiling, floor, or table.
  • Do not install this model inclined backward or forward.

Ventilation:

Proper ventilation is critical for optimal performance and longevity.

  • Installation on a Perpendicular Wall:

    • Minimum 40 mm space (A) between the product and the wall surface.
    • Ambient temperature (B) must be under 40°C.
    • When installing, ensure at least 40 mm of space for ventilation and maintain the ambient temperature below 40°C.
  • Installation on an Indented Wall:

    • Plane view specifications:
      • Minimum 40 mm space (A) from the front.
      • Minimum 70 mm space (B) from the top.
      • Minimum 50 mm space (C) from the bottom.
      • Minimum 50 mm space (D) from the sides.
      • Ambient temperature (E) must be under 40°C.
    • When installing on an indented wall, allow the specified spaces for ventilation and ensure the ambient temperature is kept below 40°C.
    • For further ventilation information, refer to the Thermal Guide in the Appendix.

On Installation

Un-boxing Guide:

There are two recommended unboxing methods depending on the product model:

  • For UDE-A/B, UHF-E, UMH-E, UHN-E, UMN-E models:

    • Detach the four box holders at the bottom.
    • Pull the upper box upward.
  • For VHR-R models:

    • Detach the four box holders on the left and right sides.
    • Pull the boxes forward and backward. This method is recommended as it minimizes the possibility of impact to the product.

Important Notice:

  • The "On Installation" stage is considered to begin when attaching the Wall Bracket Assy.
  • If the seal on the product is broken, all subsequent issues become the installer's responsibility.

Wall-mounting:

  • Handling the Product:
    • Two persons should move and install the product.
    • Always use the designated handles when moving.
    • Avoid touching the panel and bezel to prevent damage.
  • Panel Protection Sheet:
    • The Panel Protection Sheet should be detached immediately before installation.
    • Detach it from upward to downward direction.
    • The sheet can be repurposed as a mat.

Cautions During Handling:

  • Be extremely cautious about impacts, especially on the edges of the product, as this can cause damage.

Detaching the Sponges (VHR-R):

  • VHR-R models have sponges on all four bezel faces.
  • These sponges must be detached before installation.

Reserve the GAP when installing (All products):

  • Use the provided GUIDE (attached to the panel) to ensure the correct gap between products during installation.
  • VHR-R models have sponges on all four bezel faces; these should be considered when reserving gaps.
  • Use the handles on the rear side of the screen when moving to maintain proper alignment and prevent damage.

Reserve the GAP when installing (VHR-R):

  • Detach the Black Gap Tape Guide in a horizontal direction.
  • Do not strongly swap the tape. Remove it slowly.
  • Install a gap of over 0.1mm.
  • Do not remove the adhesive section of the Protection PAD.

Cautions During Stacking:

  • Product Placement:
    • Products in the center should always be located on the center side.
    • The stacking order should be: Bottom center → Bottom right or left → Upper center → Upper right or left.
  • Stacking Procedure:
    • Do not stack two products simultaneously.
    • Do not hold the bezel when stacking.
    • Do not stack the upper product in a forward direction; all products should be upright at 90 degrees.

Wall-mount Alignment:

  • Be cautious to prevent panels from colliding with each other and being damaged when adjusting panel positions in X, Y, and Z directions.
  • Do not push too strongly when using a Push-Pull Wall-Mount.

Video Signal Cables:

  • Cable Usage:
    • Use the cables packed along with the products.
    • Use officially certified cables with the recommended lengths:
      • 55-inch product: ~2 meters
      • 46-inch product: ~1.5 meters
    • Examples of cables include HDMI cable and DP cable.
  • Condition for UHD Color On & DP/HDMI Cable Length:
    • UHD content can be played on a maximum of 25 units (5x5 configuration).
    • Use the DP Cable (DP1.2, packed with the product) for Loop-out.
    • To play UHD source, "UHD Color" must be set to "On" in the Menu settings of all products.

Thermal Guide

Multi-Connection Considerations:

  • Caution is advised for multi-connections due to the following reasons:
    • Temperature in the center (upper) of horizontal/vertical connections increases due to natural convection affecting air temperature.
    • Installation near an upper wall restricts airflow, leading to higher temperatures. Additional considerations like fans or maintaining proper distance from the wall are necessary.
    • The temperature of parts inside is higher in the center compared to the side end, especially in higher rows.

Wall Mount Condition (46"/55"):

  • Ambient Temperature:
    • Strongly recommended that ambient temperature is under 30°C for video-wall installation.
    • Considerable heat is added to the upper units, resulting in an internal temperature of the uppermost unit being 5-10°C higher than the lowest unit (even with adequate distance from the wall).
  • Recommended Distances:
    • Minimum distance from the wall (a) should be greater than specified values.
    • Minimum distance between ceiling and top of screens (b) should be greater than specified values.
    • Minimum distance between ground and bottom of screens (b) should be greater than specified values.
Configuration 2x2 3x3 4x4 5x5
a [mm] 80 120 160 200
b [mm] 100 150 200 250
  • For more than 6 rows, an auxiliary air conditioning system will be required.
  • In case of a bigger matrix than 5x5, contact a local Samsung representative.

Embedded Wall Mount Condition (46"/55"):

  • Ambient Temperature:
    • Ambient temperature under 30°C is also recommended for embedded video-walls.
  • Distance from Rear Wall:
    • The distance from the rear wall is the same as for vertical wall mount cases.
    • a: same as vertical installation.
    • b = c = d: identical gap.
Configuration 2x2 3x3 4x4 5x5
a [mm] 80 120 160 200
b (= c = d) [mm] 100 150 200 250
  • Additional fans are required to decrease side gaps (b, c, d) for aesthetic purposes.

Appendix: Thermal Guide for Single Screen

Vertical Wall Mount Condition:

  • Proper thermal management is applied in commercial models.
  • No additional consideration is necessary with an ambient temperature under 35°C.
  • Recommended Distances:
    • a: ≥ 15mm (LED BLU less than 65")
    • a: 40mm (other LFD models)
  • Ambient temperature ≤ 35°C.
