This document is an owner's manual for a Samsung front-loading washing machine, specifically models WD-J1255(V/S/C) and WD-B1255(V/S/C). It provides comprehensive instructions on installation, operation, and maintenance of the appliance.
Function Description
The Samsung washing machine is designed for home use to clean laundry efficiently. It incorporates a "Fuzzy Logic" automatic control system that simplifies the washing process by automatically setting the correct temperature, washing time, and spin speed once a wash program is selected. The machine offers various wash programs to cater to different fabric types and soiling levels. It also includes drying functions, allowing for a complete wash and dry cycle within the same appliance.
Usage Features
The washing machine comes with several features designed to enhance user convenience and laundry care:
- Child Lock: This safety feature prevents children from tampering with the washer's operation. It alerts the user when activated, ensuring that settings remain undisturbed.
- Large Loads Program: This program is specifically designed to handle bigger laundry items and incorporates four innovations: Skin Care System, Tangle Reducing System, Crease Release System, and Deep Cleaning System, all aimed at optimizing the wash for larger loads.
- Delay Start: Users can delay the start time of a wash cycle for up to 24 hours, allowing for greater flexibility in managing laundry tasks. The displayed hours indicate the time until the washing cycle is finished.
- Quick Wash: For those with limited time, the 28-minute Quick Wash program provides a fast and efficient solution for washing favorite clothes.
- Delicates & Wool Program: This program offers special care for delicate items and wool, utilizing appropriate temperature, gentle wash action, and a suitable amount of water to protect sensitive fabrics.
- Control Panel: The intuitive control panel features a digital graphic display that shows the remaining wash cycle time, all washing information, and error messages. It includes dedicated buttons for Prewash, Temperature selection (cold, 30°C, 40°C, 60°C, 95°C), Rinse selection (up to five cycles), Spin selection (no spin, rinse hold, 400, 800, 1000, 1200 rpm), Delay Start, and Dry selection (120min, 90min, 60min, 30min).
- Fuzzy Control Dial: This dial allows users to select from 12 available wash programs, including Standard, Stains, Quick, Wool, Half Load, Big Wash, Clean Tub, Air Wash (Deodorization, Sterilization), Dry, Rinse, Rinse+Spin, Spin, and Drain.
- Manual Washing: For users who prefer more control, clothes can be washed manually without using the Fuzzy Logic feature, allowing for individual selection of temperature, rinse cycles, and spin speed.
- Pause Option (Stop & Adding Laundry Function): Within the first 5 minutes of a cycle, it is possible to pause the machine, unlock the door, and add or remove laundry. If the water is too hot or too much, the door will not open for safety reasons.
- Automatic Shut-off: After a wash cycle is completed, the machine automatically turns off the power.
- Load Capacity: The manual provides a chart to help users determine the appropriate load capacity for different fabric types (Cotton/Heavy/Soak wash, Quick, Delicates, Blankets) to ensure proper washing results and prevent overloading.
- Detergent Dispenser: The dispenser has separate compartments for prewash or starch, main wash detergent (including water softener, pre-soaking agent, bleach, and stain removal products), and additives like fabric softener. Users are advised to dilute concentrated softeners to prevent blockages.
Maintenance Features
Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the washing machine. The manual outlines several maintenance procedures:
- Emergency Draining: Instructions are provided for draining the washing machine in an emergency, which involves unplugging the machine, opening the filter cover, unscrewing the emergency drain cap, allowing water to flow into a bowl, and then reassembling the components.
- Repairing a Frozen Washing Machine: In freezing temperatures, the manual details steps to thaw a frozen machine, including unplugging, pouring warm water on the faucet and into the drum, and reconnecting hoses.
- Cleaning the Exterior: The exterior surfaces, including the control panel, should be wiped with a soft cloth and non-abrasive household detergents, then dried with a soft cloth. Users are warned not to pour water directly onto the machine.
- Cleaning the Detergent Drawer and Recess: The detergent drawer can be pulled out by pressing a release lever, allowing all parts to be washed under running water. The recess should be cleaned with an old toothbrush, and the liquid detergent divider should be reinserted firmly. A rinse program without laundry is recommended after cleaning.
- Cleaning the Debris Filter: The debris filter should be cleaned 5 or 6 times a year, or when a "5E" error message appears on the display. This involves opening the filter cover, unscrewing the emergency drain cap to drain water, removing the filter cap, cleaning any dirt or material from the filter, ensuring the drain pump propeller is not blocked, and then replacing the filter cap and cover.
- Cleaning the Water Hose Mesh Filter: This filter should be cleaned at least once a year, or when a "4E" error message is displayed. The process involves turning off the water source, unscrewing the hose from the back of the machine, gently pulling out the mesh filter with pliers, rinsing it under water, cleaning the threaded connector, and then reinserting the filter and screwing the hose back on, ensuring watertight connections.
