Focus
lock function
The focus setting on this camcorder is fully
automatic. When filming a distant subject, press the
FOCUS LOCK button to set the focus lock function.
When this function is set the focus setting will not
change even if something comes between the
camcorder and the main subject.
When the focus lock function is set “FOCUSLOCK”
will be displayed for about 5 seconds, then the (I)
symbol
will be displayed on the right side of the
viewfinder.
To cancel the focus lock function, press the FOCUS
LOCK button again. The (I) symbol is erased.
In the following recording conditions the focus
may not adjust properly. It is recommended to
use the focus lock function to get a stable focus
setting.
When recording two subjects, one
nearby and one distant.
When recording through
a
dirty or
wet window.
When recording subject without
contrast (a white wail, etc.).
When recording an horizontally/
vertically striped subject.
When recording very bright subjects.
Note
When zooming in to record a distant subject, at
dose-range, the auto focus might not function
properly due to the instability of the picture. In that
case, use a tripod for stable focused pictures.

Operation and warning beeps
This unit has an operation and warning beep that
will sound as indicated below.
l
On a standard operation (power on, cassette
tape ejection, playback start, recording start,
etc.) it will sound once.
l
On stopping recording it will sound twice. (Refer
to page
11.)
l
As
a warning beep, it will sound 10 times. (Refer
to page 5.)
Turning the beep function on/off
In CAMERA mode (except during recording mode),
simultaneously press the STOP and PLAY buttons
for a few seconds, to turn the beep function on/off.
“BEEP OFF” or “BEEP ON” will be displayed for
about 3 seconds in the viewfinder.
Note
The beep function mode will remain selected until
changed again, or until the lithium battery is
changed.
