This document is the user manual for the S3-Series 2 Person Infrared Sauna, which includes a touchpad and Bluetooth functionality. The model numbers covered are IG-820-SH and S820.
Function Description
The S3-Series Infrared Sauna is designed to provide a personal infrared sauna experience for two people. It utilizes CarbonFlex™ emitters to generate infrared heat, which is absorbed by the body to induce perspiration and relaxation. The sauna features a control panel for managing temperature, time, lighting, and an integrated audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. The primary function is to offer a therapeutic heat experience, promoting relaxation and well-being.
Important Technical Specifications
Electrical Requirements:
- The sauna is designed for a 120 Volt AC / 15 or 20 Amp Circuit Breaker.
- A 120 Volt AC (dedicated) circuit is recommended to prevent unnecessary tripping of the breaker.
- The sauna should be plugged into a NEMA (5-15R or 5-20R) Amp electrical outlet.
- Specific models and their amp requirements are:
- IG 810SH: 15 Amp
- IG 820SH: 15 Amp
- IG 825SH: 20 Amp
- IG 830SH: 20 Amp
- IG 840SH: 20 Amp
- IG 870SH: 15 Amp
- IG 880SH: 20 Amp
- It is crucial to plug the sauna into a dedicated outlet of the correct rating to avoid poor performance, circuit breaker tripping, or overheating of the circuit.
Heating Elements:
- The sauna utilizes CarbonFlex™ emitters.
- Floor heaters are integrated into the floor panel, indicated by ceramic tiles.
Dimensions and Construction:
- The sauna consists of several panels: Floor, Ceiling, Bench Skirt, Bench, Left Wall, Right Wall, Front Wall, and Back Wall.
- The Front Wall includes a glass assembly, which is noted as heavy and fragile.
- The room must be installed on a flat, level surface.
Safety Features:
- Proper electrical grounding is required.
- Electrical receptacles are not allowed inside the room.
- Water should not be applied to any heating element.
- No locking or latching system should be added to the door.
- Ventilation openings must not be blocked.
- Children must be supervised at all times.
- A GFCI (Ground Fault Interrupt Circuit) device is not required by NEC but may be installed if local codes require it, though it may nuisance trip.
- Loose wire connections can cause heat damage and may void the warranty.
- The manual warns against prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures, which can cause hyperthermia, and advises consulting a physician if you have health problems.
- Alcohol or drug use increases the risk of fatal hyperthermia.
- The sauna room should not be used for drying clothes or hanging objects on heater grills.
- Never operate the sauna with a damaged cord or plug.
Usage Features
Control Panel:
The sauna is equipped with a touchpad control panel for various functions:
- Main Power: Press POWER to switch the room ON or OFF.
- Timer Functions: Press and hold "+" or "-" to set the operating time in 5-minute increments.
- Temperature Functions:
- Press to alternate between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
- Press and hold "+" or "-" to set the desired room temperature in 1-degree increments. The desired temperature will flash three times, then the actual room temperature will be displayed.
- Bench Heat: Press to turn ON or OFF.
- Light Functions: All lights operate when main power is ON or OFF.
- Interior Lights: Press to turn ON or OFF.
- Valance Light: Press to turn ON or OFF.
- Color Therapy Functions: Press the Color Therapy Light button to activate a color light or sequence:
- RED
- RED-GREEN
- GREEN
- BLUE-GREEN
- BLUE
- BLUE-RED
- BLUE-RED-GREEN
- Activates full rotation of all 7 color therapy colors.
- Turns Color Therapy Functions OFF.
Audio System:
- Audio Power On/Off: Press the Bluetooth icon to turn the audio system ON or OFF. A blue LED indicates the system is operating.
- Bluetooth: Always enabled when the blue LED is glowing and no Aux Input is connected.
- Auxiliary Input: Insert a 3.5 mm cable into the Aux Input. This automatically disables Bluetooth input and enables Aux Input.
- Warning: Apple products (and other electronic devices) have recommended operating temperatures (32°F to 95°F). Using devices outside this range may void their warranty.
Sauna Use Guidelines:
- Avoid large meals and excessive alcohol before use.
- Do not smoke, drink alcohol, or exercise inside the sauna.
- Consult a physician if taking medications or having health conditions.
- Take a warm shower before a session, if possible, without drying.
- Clothing is optional; wear loose-fitting clothes or use a clean soft towel.
- Set desired time and temperature.
- The sauna produces effective wavelengths within 10-15 minutes; waiting for maximum temperature is not necessary.
- Enter and relax, enjoying music or color therapy.
- Close the door and open the interior ceiling vent for fresh air.
- Remain in the sauna long enough to warm up and perspire (typically 10-15 minutes).
- Drink plenty of cool water or healthy drinks.
- Leave the sauna, cool down (shower/bathe if possible), and then re-enter for another 10-15 minute session. Repeat 3-4 cycles.
- After the final session, turn off the sauna, open the door, and clean the walls, bench, and floor with a soft, damp cloth.
- Enjoy a final shower/bath and relax in the "after sauna glow."
Maintenance Features
General Cleaning:
- DO NOT USE: Alcohol or any strong cleaning chemicals, as they can damage the clear finish and wood surfaces.
- Interior: Perspiration and dirt may absorb into the wood. Periodic cleaning is needed. Scrub benches, back supports, floorboards, and walls with a stiff brush and mild detergent. Light sanding is another option for cleaning interior surfaces.
- Exterior: Use a damp cloth with mild soap and warm water.
Troubleshooting Tips:
- Main Control Touch Pad Lights Not Lit:
- Ensure electrical connections between ceiling, back wall, and front wall.
- Verify the power cord is plugged into the proper receptacle and dedicated circuit breaker.
- Check if the main house circuit breaker is tripped.
- Ensure the room's main controller circuit breaker (under the bench) is not tripped and is ON.
- Room Not Heating:
- Verify the power cord is plugged into the power receptacle.
- Check if the main house circuit breaker is tripped.
- Ensure the room's main controller circuit breaker (under the bench) is not tripped and is ON.
- Confirm the desired room temperature is greater than the actual room temperature.
- Ensure there is no time set in the Delay Start timer if immediate heating is desired.
- Door Rubbing or Binding:
- Ensure the room is assembled properly, with all walls and ceiling interlocked.
- Check if the floor is flat using a level on the ceiling.
- It may be necessary to use a small door or window shim to adjust the level under the floor.
Warranty Information:
- Premium Line of Infrared Saunas: Warranted against malfunction or defects in materials or workmanship.
- Applicability: Applies if installed according to instructions, properly maintained, not subjected to damage/misuse/abuse, and used residentially.
- Registration: Warranty becomes valid after the Limited Warranty Registration form is filled out and mailed to SAUNATEC within 60 days of installation. Non-transferable.
- Duration:
- Parts (Residential): 5 years for manufacturing or workmanship defects.
- Parts (Commercial): 1 year for all components.
- CarbonFlex™ Emitters (Residential): Lifetime limited warranty for manufacturing or workmanship defects (freight covered for the first 5 years, customer pays freight beyond 5 years).
- Audio/Visual: 1 year for manufacturing or workmanship defects.
- Wood Components: Lifetime limited warranty for manufacturing or workmanship defects. Minor cracks due to wood expansion/contraction are considered normal and not covered.
- Labor (Non-Commercial US): 2 years for defective parts, plus 3 additional years if the product is returned to the factory.
- Warranty Work: Must be authorized by SAUNATEC and performed by authorized representatives.
- Return Authorization Number: Required for all returned parts.
- Procedure: Contact SAUNATEC at 1-888-780-4427 or by mail for repair/replacement requests. Shipping costs for returns are prepaid by the customer; shipping costs for replacement parts are at the purchaser's expense.
- Limitations: The warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, and does not cover incidental or consequential damages.
