This document is an owner's manual for a Savoy House ceiling fan, specifically models 72-5045-813-13, 72-5045-8SV-SN, and 72-5045-8GR-GR.
Function Description:
This ceiling fan is designed to provide air circulation and illumination. It features a DC motor with an auto-learning remote control system, allowing for variable fan speeds and light control. The fan can operate in both forward (downward airflow for cooling) and reverse (upward airflow for warming) modes, making it suitable for year-round use. The integrated LED light kit provides illumination, with dimmable options depending on the bulb type. The remote control allows for convenient operation from a distance, including fan speed adjustment, light on/off, and dimming. The fan also incorporates safety features such as lock rotor protection and over-80W power consumption protection.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Fan Rating: AC 120V, 60Hz
- ETL Listed Model: YG493OD
- Battery for Remote Control: 3-volt battery (CR2032)
- Minimum Clearance: 7 feet from the trailing edge of the blades to the floor.
- Outlet Box Support: Must be securely mounted and capable of reliably supporting a minimum of 50 pounds. Only ETL Listed outlet boxes marked "FOR FAN SUPPORT" should be used.
- Remote Control Range: Maximum distance of 30 feet from the transmitting unit to the fan's receiving unit for proper signal transmission.
- Motor Type: DC motor with built-in safety features.
- Light Kit: ETL Listed and marked suitable for use with the model fan.
- Switches: ETL General Use Switches.
Usage Features:
- Remote Control Operation: The fan is operated via an auto-learning remote control.
- Fan Speed Control: "+" button increases fan speed (up to 6 speeds), "-" button decreases fan speed (down to 1 speed). LED indicators on the remote denote the current speed setting. A "MAX" button sets the fan to maximum speed.
- Fan Off: A dedicated button turns the fan off.
- Forward/Reverse Function: A specific button allows switching between forward (cooling) and reverse (warming) modes while the fan is running.
- Light Control: A dedicated button controls the light. Press and release to turn the light ON or OFF. Press and hold to set the desired brightness. The light has an auto-resume feature, retaining the last brightness setting.
- Auto-Learning Pairing Process: The fan's receiver automatically learns the frequency from the remote control. This process initiates within the first 60 seconds of supplying power to the fan. It involves pressing and holding the "Fan Off/Set" button for 6 seconds, after which the fan will undergo a self-calibration process (rotating counter-clockwise then clockwise at highest RPM for 3 minutes each).
- Multiple Fan Pairing: For multiple fans, the remote control has frequency settings (switches numbered 1-4) that can be adjusted to create 16 different frequencies, allowing individual pairing for each fan.
- Safety Protections:
- Lock Rotor Protection: If the motor stalls or blades are obstructed, the current monitoring function will automatically turn off power after 30 seconds.
- Over 80W Protection: If the receiver detects motor power consumption exceeding 80W, it will stop operation immediately.
- Mounting Options: Can be installed on standard or sloped ceilings. A longer downrod may be needed for steep, sloped ceilings to maintain proper blade clearance.
Maintenance Features:
- Regular Checks:
- Check support connections, brackets, and blade attachments twice a year to ensure they are secure.
- Periodically check all motor housing screws, blade bracket screws, and wire nut connections for tightness.
- Cleaning:
- Use only a soft brush or lint-free cloth for cleaning to avoid scratching the finish.
- Do not use water or detergents when cleaning the fan or fan blades, as this can damage the motor, wood, or cause electrical shock.
- A dry dust cloth or lightly dampened cloth is suitable for most cleaning.
- A light coat of furniture polish can be applied to wood blades for protection and enhanced beauty. Small scratches can be covered with a light application of shoe polish.
- Lubrication: The fan motor has permanently lubricated bearings and does not require oiling.
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides solutions for common issues such as the fan not starting, noisy operation, remote control malfunction, and fan wobble. This includes checking electrical connections, dip switch settings, screw tightness, and blade balance. A Blade Balancing Kit is provided for addressing wobble.
- Safety Precaution for Maintenance: Always ensure the power is OFF at the electrical panel box before attempting any repairs or maintenance. Do not bend blade brackets during assembly or after installation, and do not insert objects in the path of the blades.
