Why doesn't my Scarlett SC-400 bread rise?
- JJonathon NelsonAug 18, 2025
If your Scarlett Bread Maker's bread isn't rising, several factors could be at play. It might be due to improper gluten quality or not using baker's flour; try a different type, manufacturer, or batch of flour. Insufficient liquid can also cause the dough to become too hard; baker's flour with high protein content absorbs more water, so add an extra 10-20 ml of water. Ensure you're using suitable, fast-acting dry yeast and check its expiry date, storing it in the fridge. Also, make sure liquids don't come into contact with the yeast before kneading, adding ingredients in the correct order per the recipe. Finally, verify the salt and sugar levels using the measuring spoon, ensuring there are no hidden sources of these ingredients.
