Overview

This document describes the U65 Series User Guide, which provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of a Liquid Crystal Television. The guide emphasizes safety precautions and proper handling to prevent electric shock, fire, and personal injury.

Function Description:

The U65 Series device is a Liquid Crystal Television designed for displaying video content. It is equipped with various input ports to connect different audio and video equipment, including HDMI, AV, YPbPr, and USB. The television features an integrated tuner for receiving broadcast signals when connected to an antenna or cable (without a cable box). It also supports MHL (Mobile High-definition Link) for connecting compatible mobile devices, allowing users to display content from their phones on the TV. The device can be mounted on a wall or placed on a stand, offering flexibility in placement.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The television requires the attachment of two display stands (labeled L and R) to its base using provided screws. For stand placement, the guide recommends using a display safety strap (not included) to minimize the risk of toppling. For wall mounting, users must ensure the wall is structurally safe for the TV's weight and that the wall mount kit is compatible.
  • Cable Connections: The TV offers multiple connection options for audio and video equipment. Users can connect devices such as DVD players, gaming consoles, and USB flash drives. The guide provides a visual suggestion for connecting common AV equipment.
  • Power and Initial Setup: To begin using the TV, the power cable must be connected, and the standby red light should be illuminated. All connection cables from AV devices must be securely attached.
  • Source Selection: Users can switch between different input sources (TV, AV, YPbPr, HDMI1/MHL, HDMI2, HDMI3, HDMI4, Media) using the SOURCE button on the remote control or the side of the HD Display.
  • Antenna/Cable Setup (without cable box): If an antenna or cable is connected to the TV's tuner, an initial setup process is required. This involves accessing the MENU, selecting the CHANNEL icon, choosing the signal type (AIR or CABLE), and performing an AUTO CHANNEL SEARCH to scan for available channels.
  • Remote Control: The TV comes with a remote control that requires two AAA batteries. The remote allows users to power on/off the TV, select input sources, adjust volume, change channels, access the menu, and control various display settings. It includes dedicated buttons for CC (closed captioning), MTS (multi-channel television sound), Aspect ratio, Freeze picture, Sleep timer, and USB media playback. The remote also features directional buttons and an ENTER button for menu navigation.
  • MHL Connectivity: HDMI 1 doubles as an MHL-enabled port, allowing users to connect MHL-compatible cell phones or streaming stick devices (like ROKU MHL streaming stick) using an MHL cable. When using a ROKU™ product, a dedicated HOME / MHL button on the remote returns to the ROKU™ home screen.
  • Sound Bar Control: The remote control includes specific buttons (Source, Mode, Vol-, Vol+, Power) designed to work with an optional Sceptre Sound Bar, enabling users to control the sound bar's source, sound modes, and volume.
  • ROKU™ Stick Integration: The remote supports ROKU™ stick functionality, with PURPLE buttons under HDMI1 providing specific controls for the ROKU™ stick, such as rewind, play/pause, fast forward, and info.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The television should only be cleaned with a dry cloth.
  • Ventilation: It is crucial not to block any ventilation openings. The TV should be installed according to the manufacturer's instructions and kept away from heat sources. A minimum distance of 5 cm around all edges of the display should be maintained for sufficient ventilation, and openings should not be covered by items like newspapers or curtains.
  • Power Cord Protection: The power cord should be protected from being walked on or pinched, especially at the plugs, convenience receptacles, and where it exits the apparatus.
  • Attachments/Accessories: Only attachments and accessories specified by the manufacturer should be used.
  • Cart/Stand Usage: When using a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table, use caution when moving the combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
  • Unplugging: The apparatus should be unplugged during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
  • Servicing: All servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required if the apparatus is damaged (e.g., power-supply cord or plug damaged, liquid spilled, objects fallen into, exposed to rain/moisture, not operating normally, or dropped).
  • Battery Handling: For the remote control, only AAA batteries should be used, and new and old batteries should not be mixed. Batteries should be inserted correctly, matching the (+) and (-) symbols. Used batteries should be disposed of according to local laws and regulations, as they contain harmful chemicals. Batteries should be kept away from children and pets, and removed if the remote is not used for a long time. The remote should also be kept away from moisture, sunlight, and high temperatures.
  • Environmental Considerations: The guide provides links for recycling unwanted electronics and batteries, emphasizing responsible disposal.
  • Safety Warnings: The document includes warnings against exposing the product to rain or moisture to reduce the risk of fire or electric shock. It also advises against placing the television in an unstable location to prevent it from falling and causing injury, especially to children. It recommends anchoring tall furniture and educating children about climbing hazards. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus. The mains plug serves as the disconnect device and should remain readily operable. Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat.
