Overview

The Schenley Steam Mop "Hestia" is a versatile home cleaning appliance designed for deep steam cleaning. It functions not only as a steam mop for hard floors but also as a multi-functional steam cleaner with various attachments, capable of cleaning tiles, windows, kitchen stoves, range hoods, tables, bathtubs, toilet seats, fittings, and more. The device emphasizes simplicity and nobility in its design and operation.

Function Description:

The Schenley Steam Mop generates steam when connected to electrical power. It features a main body with a water tank, power cord, control button, indicator lights, handle, and a steam generation system. Various attachments can be connected to the main body or an extension rod to perform different cleaning tasks. The steam mop heats up in approximately 15 seconds and offers three steam levels: minimum (one indicator light), middle (two indicator lights), and maximum (three indicator lights). The control button allows users to switch between these levels. To stop steam, the control button is held for 2-3 seconds, though the heating system remains active until the power cord is unplugged.

Usage Features:

The steam mop is designed for ease of assembly and use.

  • Assembly: The steamer main body connects to an extension rod, and the mop head attaches to the other end of the rod. Attachments like the jet nozzle, glass squeegee, sponge head, grout brush, metal brush, and nylon brush can be connected to the steamer main body or the jet nozzle.
  • Water Filling: The water tank has a maximum capacity of 8.5 fl. oz (250ml). Users are instructed to use the provided measuring cup to fill the tank with tap water or distilled water, ensuring not to overfill and that the lid is firmly closed to prevent leaks. It is crucial to ensure the steam mop is powered off and unplugged before refilling, and to allow it to cool down if it has been in use.
  • Operation: Once filled and assembled, plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. The device will begin heating, indicated by the three lights illuminating and then going out sequentially. After 15 seconds, two indicator lights will flash, signaling readiness. Press the control button to start steaming and select the desired steam level.
  • Attachments:
    • Microfiber Pads (SLASSM004): Machine washable, suitable for virtually all hard floor surfaces. They adhere to the mop head.
    • Jet Nozzle (SLASSM005): For hard-to-reach areas and as an extension for other brushes.
    • Glass Squeegee (SLASSM006): For smooth surfaces like mirrors, windows, and showers.
    • Sponge Head (SLASSM007): For cleaning surfaces with grease or sticky liquids, such as kitchen tables, countertops, and water sinks.
    • Grout Brush (SLASSM008): For cleaning narrow surfaces, corners, and tile floor grout.
    • Metal Brush (SLASSM009): For robust surfaces like dirty grills and patio tiles.
    • Nylon Brush (SLASSM010): For removing stubborn dirt and stains from water taps, bathroom fittings, and hubcaps.
    • Measuring Cup (SLASSM011): Used for accurately filling the water tank.
  • Safety Precautions: Users are warned against leaving the mop unattended when plugged in, filling the tank while plugged in, using a damaged cord, or directing steam at people, animals, plants, or delicate objects. The steam emitted is very hot and can cause scalding. It is recommended to allow the device to cool for 15 minutes after use before handling attachments or emptying the water tank. Only tap or distilled water should be used; no cleaning detergents, alcohol, fragrances, oil, or other chemicals. The mop should not be used on delicate, steam-sensitive materials like leather, velvet, wax-polished furniture, or unsealed wood/unglazed ceramic floors without prior testing.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance ensures long-term reliable service.

  • Cooling: Always allow the steam mop to cool down for at least 15 minutes before handling or removing attachments.
  • Pressure Release: Press and hold the steam button to release any remaining pressure before handling.
  • Water Tank Cleaning: Rinse the water tank once a month with clean water to remove limescale deposits.
  • Appliance Cleaning: Wipe down the appliance with a damp cloth as needed.
  • Attachment Cleaning: Clean attachments regularly to keep them sanitized.
  • Steam Outlet Nozzle: Clean with a needle if limescale deposits accumulate.
  • Microfiber Pads: Hand wash or machine wash after use. Avoid bleach, powdered detergent, or fabric softeners. Line-dry or tumble-dry on a low setting. Replace every 3-4 months.
  • Storage: Remove all water from the tank before storing. Store the steam mop and attachments in a cool, dry location, away from heat sources like gas or electric cookers, heaters, or ovens. Leave the water tank lid open during storage.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides solutions for common issues:

  • No Steam: Check power connection, wait for heating (15 seconds), ensure water tank is filled. If issues persist, contact customer service.
  • Weak Steam: This is normal for lower settings; select maximum steam level for more consistent steam. Ensure water tank is filled.
  • Cannot Change Steam Level: Firmly press the control button. If indicator lights malfunction, contact customer service.
  • Attachment Incompatibility: Ensure the attachment is fully pushed into the jet nozzle. Allow the mop to cool for 15 minutes before handling attachments.
