1.1.2.2. Cascading E-1710 Encoders
Cascading encoders provides a way to encode and multiplex many video feeds
without a multiplexer device.
Each encoder in the cascading chain receives the stream from the previous encoder
to its RS-422 input. The encoder multiplexes the received signal from the ASI input
with the encoded video and performs PCR re-stamping on it. The stream is
forwarded to the next encoder in the cascading chain.
Each encoder is able to cascade streams up to 20Mbps.
1.1.2.3. Input Encoding Capability
In addition to DSNG and Fly-Away capabilities, the CODICO E-1710/1720
Compact DSNG Encoders are ideally suited for fixed earth station applications. As
found in all E-1000 Series encoders, the E-1710/1720 provides high-quality
solutions for traditional applications that require the broadcast of a single channel
(SCPC) or multiple channels (MCPC), multiplexed and/or encrypted and scrambled.
Figure 1-3 shows an illustration of an SCPC application.
