How to troubleshoot a blank ACU display on a Sea Tel DAC-2202?
    • F
      fitzgeraldsharonJul 31, 2025
If the Sea Tel Control Unit (ACU) display is blank, first ensure that the front panel power switch is turned ON. If the display remains blank, check the AC line voltage on the power cord to make sure it is correct. Also, verify that all cables on the rear panel of the ACU are properly connected. As a last resort, disconnect the cables plugged into J1 Gyro Compass, J2 NMEA, and J3 M&C one at a time, checking the display status after each disconnection, to see if any of these cables are shorting the ACU power.

What to do if Sea Tel DAC-2202 Control Unit status displays "REMOTE NOT RESPONDING"?
    • I
      Ian WalterAug 12, 2025
If your Sea Tel Control Unit's status display shows "REMOTE NOT RESPONDING", the problem might be in the Antenna Control coax cable or the communication modems within the ACU and/or Antenna PCU. Check the Antenna Control Cable connections at the J4 "Antenna" jack on the rear of the ACU and at the antenna pedestal inside the radome.

Why is the ship's heading display incorrect on my Sea Tel DAC-2202?
    • V
      Virginia JohnsonAug 18, 2025
If the ship's heading display on your Sea Tel Control Unit does not indicate the correct heading, it may be because R1 and R2 are reversed. In this case, reverse R1 and R2 and recheck the heading display. Alternatively, S1, S2, and S3 might be in the right order but off by one position. Note their current positions and carefully move the connections one position over (S1 to S2, S2 to S3, and S3 to S1).

What causes the display to change in the opposite direction of the ship's movement on a Sea Tel DAC-2202 Control Unit?
    • A
      Anthony JacksonAug 25, 2025
If the display changes in the direction opposite of the movement of the ship on your Sea Tel Control Unit, the secondary leads S1 and S2 are likely connected incorrectly. Switch the secondary leads S1 and S2, but exercise caution as there is 90 VAC between them!

Why does the ship's heading display on my Sea Tel DAC-2202 not change with ship direction?
    • A
      Amy SchroederNov 4, 2025
When the ship changes direction and the ship's heading display on your Sea Tel Control Unit does not reflect this change, the cause may be a blown fuse at the gyro repeater or an open circuit between the repeater and the ACU. To check this, use a multimeter to measure the voltage between R1 and R2; it should read 115 VAC. If it does not, a fuse is likely blown or there is an open circuit. Alternatively, there could be a problem in the line between the gyro repeater and the ACU, or a problem in the gyro repeater itself. Read between S1 and S2, S2 and S3, and S3 and S1. They should all read between 0 and 90 VAC. If one reading is very close to 0 volts wait until the ship has made a major change in heading and then check voltage again. If the reading is still very low there is a problem in th...
