Overview

The Sealey CM4 Set of 4 Corner Transport Dollies are heavy-duty devices designed to facilitate the movement of awkward rectangular loads, particularly in locations where traditional material handling equipment might be impractical. Manufactured from high-quality steel, these dollies offer increased mobility and a robust solution for transporting items such as cabinets, desks, and other similar objects. They are sold in sets of four, providing a complete system for handling large items.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Sealey CM4 dollies is to allow for the safe and efficient movement of heavy and bulky rectangular loads. Each dolly is designed to fit under one corner of an object, effectively lifting it slightly off the ground and placing it on wheels. This setup enables a single operator (or two for heavier/taller loads) to pivot and roll the load with relative ease. The dollies are particularly useful for navigating tight spaces or areas with limited maneuverability, where forklifts or pallet jacks might not be suitable. The rubber-covered load area on each dolly helps to secure the load, preventing slippage during transport.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model No.: CM4
  • Capacity: 150kg per set (meaning 37.5 kg per corner mover, as stated in the safety warnings).
  • Construction: Manufactured from high-quality steel, ensuring durability and strength.
  • Wheels: Each corner dolly is fitted with three free-moving castor wheels, which provide 360-degree maneuverability. These castors are designed for smooth movement across level, solid surfaces like concrete.
  • Load Area: Features a rubber-covered load area to enhance grip and secure the item being moved.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The dollies require minimal assembly. Users need to place 12 plain washers onto the 12 castor studs and then wind the castor studs into the 3 captive nuts in the corner platforms. It is crucial to ensure the castors are tightened securely using appropriate tools like "plumbers" pliers or thin-nosed grips. Finally, the self-adhesive rubber pads need to be positioned correctly on the platforms.
  • Operation:
    • Placement: To use, the load is pivoted, and the wheeled corner platforms are rolled beneath each corner of the object. For heavier or taller loads, two operators are recommended. The dollies should be nested fully under the load.
    • Movement: Once all four dollies are in place, the load can be pushed. It is advised to push the loaded corner movers as close to the bottom of the load as practically possible to minimize the risk of tipping. All four corner movers must be used to transport the load.
    • Removal: Removal is the reverse of loading; the corner platforms are steadied with the feet as the load is removed.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always adhere to Health & Safety and local authority regulations.
    • Use only on a level and solid surface, such as concrete.
    • Do not use the system for any purpose other than its intended design.
    • Never overload the dollies (maximum 37.5 kg per corner mover).
    • Do not let go of the load while in motion.
    • Keep the work area clean, uncluttered, and well-lit.
    • Ensure dollies are properly assembled before loading.
    • Two operators are recommended for heavier loads.
    • Always push near the bottom of the load to prevent tipping.
    • Always use all four corner movers.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks: The integrity of the swivel castors should be checked regularly, ensuring they remain tight and functional.
  • Cleaning: The dollies should be kept clean using a moistened cloth and mild detergent.
  • Lubrication: If required, the ball journals of the castors should be smeared with grease to ensure smooth operation and longevity.

The Sealey CM4 dollies are designed for durability and ease of use, providing a practical solution for moving large, heavy, and awkward items in various settings, from workshops to offices. Proper assembly, adherence to safety guidelines, and routine maintenance will ensure years of trouble-free performance.
