Overview

This document describes the Seifert 850600562 cooling unit, an industrial accessory designed for dissipating heat from control cabinets and enclosures to protect temperature-sensitive components in industrial environments. It is not intended for household use.

Function Description:

The cooling unit operates on a refrigeration circuit comprising a compressor, evaporator, condenser, and expansion device. This hermetically sealed circuit uses R134a refrigerant, which is chlorine-free with an Ozone Destruction Potential (ODP) of 0 and a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 1430. The compressor pressurizes the refrigerant, increasing its temperature and pushing it through the condenser, where it is cooled by ambient air and transitions from gas to liquid. The liquid then passes through a capillary pipe, reducing its pressure before reaching the evaporator. In the evaporator, the refrigerant absorbs heat from the enclosure, changing back to a gas, completing the cycle as it's drawn back into the compressor. The unit features two separate air circuits, ensuring that clean cabinet air does not mix with potentially dirty or polluted ambient air. It can function in extreme ambient conditions, such as dusty and oily air, within an operating temperature range of +10°C (50°F) to +60°C (140°F). Some units can be ordered with an additional electrical cabinet heater.

Usage Features:

The unit is controlled via a front keypad and display. The display shows temperature in the range of -50°C to +150°C (-58°F to +302°F), with a resolution of tenths between -19.9°C and +99.9°C (-3.8°F to +211.8°F). During programming, it shows parameter codes and values. Icons indicate various operational states such as compressor active, alarm active, heater active, ambient blower active, heating mode, cooling mode, and test mode.

  • Setting Cooling Set Point (St1): Press "SET", adjust value with ▲ or ▼, then press "SET" again to save. Default is +35°C / +95°F.
  • Setting Heating Set Point (St2): (For units with internal heater) Press "SET" twice, adjust value with ▲ or ▼, then press "SET" again to save. Default is +5°C / +41°F.
  • Setting Temperature Units, Low/High Temperature Alarms: Press "PRG" for 5 seconds to access the parameter list. Use ▲ or ▼ to select parameters like C18 (temperature unit, 0=°C, 1=°F), P25 (low temperature alarm threshold, default -10°C / +14°F), P26 (high temperature alarm threshold, default +55°C / +131°F), and c68 (door contact logic, 0=ON if closed, 1=ON if open). Press "SET" to display current value, adjust with ▲ or ▼, then press "SET" to temporarily save. Repeat for other parameters, then press "PRG" for 5 seconds to permanently save.
  • Test Function: Different key combinations initiate 4-minute tests: "SET+▲" tests Compressor and Ambient Blower relays; "SET+▼" tests Alarms and Heater relays.
  • Alarm Relay Operation: Provides both normally closed (NC) and normally open (NO) alarm contacts. Under normal conditions, NC is closed, NO is open. An alarm condition (or open door contact) causes NC to open and NO to close. System power failure also triggers an alarm.
  • Door Switch: The unit can be switched ON/OFF via a door contact switch. Terminals are bridged by default; remove the bridge to connect a door contact switch. The contact must be closed when the cabinet door is closed. The logic of the door switch can be changed using parameter c68.
  • Condensate Management: The unit features integrated condensate evaporation. If excessive condensate forms, it drains into an overflow trough. Regular seal checks and installing a door contact switch (order no. 3100001) are recommended to prevent condensation.
  • Installation: The power supply rating must match the unit's rating plate. Air inlets and outlets must be unobstructed. For UL compliance, ensure the air outlet does not blow directly at an operator; a barrier or duct may be needed. The enclosure air suction hole should be at the highest possible point. When mounting on a door, ensure the door can support the weight. Disconnect power before any work inside the enclosure. If recessed, the controller bracket can be adjusted.

Maintenance Features:

  • Troubleshooting: A failure table provides codes (e.g., E01 for internal temperature sensor failure, E04 for high temperature alarm), descriptions, and solutions (e.g., check probe connections, clean air filters, contact service partner).
  • Cleaning: Only specialized personnel should maintain and clean the unit. Disconnect from electrical supply during maintenance. Do not use aggressive cleaning materials on the controller panel; use neutral detergents and water.
  • Filter Installation/Replacement: Follow specific steps for installing or replacing filters. Filters should be cleaned or replaced at regular intervals, especially in dusty or oily environments. Washable aluminum filters (AC-8503/06-BF-1) and metal filters (AC-8503/06-BZ-1) are available.
  • Disposal: All spare parts and associated materials must be disposed of according to environmental laws.
  • Transport & Storage:
    • Inspect the carton box for transport damage upon delivery.
    • Store in locations with temperatures between -40°F and 158°F, and relative humidity (at 77°F) max. 95%.
    • Always store the cooling unit in its installation position.
    • For returning the unit, use original packing or a suitable packing case, strapped to a pallet. Maintain at least 30 mm space between the unit and external packing. Ship in the same position as mounted, protected by shock-resistant padding.
  • Taking into Operation: To ensure proper lubrication, allow the unit to stand for at least 30 minutes after transport before connecting to mains power. The unit/system must be protected with an MCB Type D or K. Upon connection, the internal fan starts. If the enclosure temperature exceeds the set point, the compressor and external air fan will activate. The cooling cycle stops when the enclosure air reaches the set temperature minus hysteresis or after the minimum On-time. Hysteresis is 3K, minimum ON-time is 4 minutes, and minimum OFF-time is 3 minutes (7 minutes for units >1kW). The internal enclosure temperature setpoint is pre-set at 95°F.
