Do you have a question about the Selve i-R Marki WS and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The SELVE i-R Marki WS/WSRF/Solar WS/Transmit WS is a control system designed for sun protection and Venetian blind systems, offering automated control based on environmental factors.

Function Description

The device primarily controls sun protection systems by monitoring solar intensity and wind speed. The i-R Marki WSRF model offers additional control based on rain/snow and frost. The i-R Marki WS/WSRF also includes a control output for connecting a motor.

Wind Protection Function: The system retracts the awning and blocks further extension if the wind threshold value is exceeded. The preset delay for this function is 15 minutes.

Sun Protection Function: The awning extends if the sun threshold value is exceeded (preset delay: 5 minutes) and retracts if the sun threshold value is not met (preset delay: 15 minutes).

Rain Protection Function (only i-R Marki WSRF): When it starts to rain, the awning automatically retracts, and automatic extension is prevented.

Frost Protection Function (only i-R Marki WSRF): This function prevents the awning from extending if the temperature drops below +4 °C.

Twilight Function: The awning retracts during twilight hours, both in the mornings and evenings.

Test Mode: This mode allows for testing the sensor. In Test Mode, the delay times for sun and wind protection functions are reduced from minutes to seconds. Any existing wind alarm is reset.

Data Transfer: The sensor transmits current wind and sun values to the receiver via radio signals at approximately one-minute intervals. Significant changes are transmitted immediately.

Awning Indications:

  • Wind alarm: Manual extension is stopped after 2 seconds, and the awning retracts.
  • Sensor loss: Manual extension is stopped after 4 seconds, and the awning retracts.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Nominal Voltage: 230–240 V AC/50–60 Hz (for i-R Marki WS/WSRF/Transmit WS models only).
  • Switched Current: 5 A/250 V AC at cos φ = 1 (for i-R Marki WS/WSRF models only).
  • System of Protection: IP 33.
  • Permissible Ambient Temperature: -20 to +55 °C.
  • Radio Frequency: 868.3 MHz.
  • Maximum Radio Range: Up to 25 m indoors and up to 350 m in open areas.

Usage Features

Setting Sun and Wind Threshold Values: These values can be adjusted using the i-R Marki Send WS and i-R Marki Send Plus devices.

Transmission Control Light: A lit transmission control light indicates a radio signal.

Change-over Switch Awning/Venetian Blind (only i-R Marki WS/WSRF/Transmit WS): Coding switch 1 allows setting the sensor's control output to either awning mode (bottom) or Venetian blind mode (top).

Change-over Switch Drive Control Device/Group Control Device (only i-R Marki WS/WSRF): Coding switch 2 allows setting the sensor's control output to either drive control device mode (bottom) or group control device mode (top).

UP-/STOP-/DOWN Button: This button enables operation of the system directly from the sensor, useful for tasks like testing the transmission path.

Programming Button: Used to program the sensor into the receiver. For i-R Marki WS/WSRF models, additional sensors can be programmed.

Transmitter Programming Procedure:

  • Programming the sensor: Press the PROG button on the receiver or a programmed transmitter for 3 seconds (wait for motor movement confirmation). The receiver enters programming mode for 1 minute. Briefly press (1 sec.) the PROG button of the sensor to program it.
  • Deprogramming the sensor: Similar to programming, but the sensor is deprogrammed.
  • Programming a transmitter (only i-R Marki WS/WSRF): Press the PROG button on the sensor for 3 seconds (wait for motor movement confirmation). The receiver enters programming mode for 1 minute. Briefly press (1 sec.) the PROG button of the transmitter to program it.
  • Deprogramming a transmitter (only i-R Marki WS/WSRF): Similar to programming, but the transmitter is deprogrammed.
  • Functions in Reprogramming Mode (only i-R Marki WS/WSRF, for qualified personnel): Requires disconnecting the receiver from the mains supply to enter service mode. A transmitter must be correctly programmed beforehand. The receiver stays in service mode for 4 minutes. Only the receiver to be set should be in service mode. To exit service mode, the motor must be actuated. The receiver confirms service mode with a brief up and down movement of the motor.
  • Reprogramming if a transmitter is faulty or lost: If a programmed transmitter is unavailable, disconnect the receiver from the mains to enter reprogramming mode. Then press the PROG button of the new transmitter for 3 seconds. All old transmitters will be deprogrammed.
  • Reset the receiver to factory settings (only i-R Marki WS/WSRF, for qualified personnel): Disconnect the receiver from the mains to enter reprogramming mode. Then press the PROG button of the sensor for 9 seconds. This clears all programmed transmitters and intermediate positions.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning: The device should only be cleaned with a damp cloth. Avoid using cleansing agents, as they can damage the plastic housing.

Installation/Connection Notes:

  • Ensure the control unit is not installed or operated near metal surfaces or magnetic fields, as these can significantly reduce radio range.
  • Radio sets transmitting on the same frequency may cause interference.
  • The radio signal range is limited by legislation and constructional measures.
  • Choose an installation location where sun intensity and wind speed can be measured accurately, free from interference from objects like trees or roofs. The adjustable wall mount allows for adaptation to various installation situations.
  • Electrical connections to the 230 V network must be performed by an authorized electrician.
  • All connecting cables must be disconnected before installation or maintenance.
  • Safety measures should be taken to prevent accidental activation.
  • Local utility regulations and VDE 100 standards for wet and damp rooms must be observed during connection.
  • The potential-free control output is not suitable for safety extra-low voltage.
  • Only use unmodified original SELVE parts.
  • Keep people and objects away from the system's operating range, especially children.
  • Observe country-specific regulations and relevant building regulations.
  • Do not operate the control unit if the system or control unit is damaged.
  • Retract sun protection during storms.
  • Automatic or manual movement during freezing conditions (e.g., frozen wind wheel) or storms can damage the system.
  • Receivers (e.g., radio control) will not function after a power failure, meaning extended sun protection cannot be retracted during a storm.
