Do you have a question about the Sencor SHM 5205 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document serves as a user's manual for the Sencor SHM 5205 Hand Mixer, providing comprehensive instructions for its safe operation, use, maintenance, and disposal.

Function Description

The Sencor SHM 5205 Hand Mixer is an electrical appliance designed for various food preparation tasks in a household setting. Its primary function is to mix, beat, and knead ingredients, making it suitable for preparing a wide range of recipes from doughs and batters to creams and sauces. The mixer operates with interchangeable adaptors, specifically a set for beating and another for kneading, allowing it to perform different culinary functions efficiently. The motor unit houses the controls for speed selection and a TURBO function for maximum speed, ensuring versatility in processing different types of food.

Usage Features

The hand mixer is designed for ease of use and versatility. To begin, users insert the appropriate mixing or kneading adaptors into the designated openings on the motor unit until they click into a secured position. For kneading, it's important to correctly identify and insert the adaptor with a gear design into the corresponding opening. Once the adaptors are in place, ingredients are added to a bowl. The adaptors are then submerged into the bowl with ingredients before the appliance is connected to a power point and turned on.

The mixer offers multiple speed settings, ranging from 1 to 5, allowing users to select the ideal speed for different tasks and ingredient consistencies. Speed 1 is suitable for initial mixing of larger amounts of food or dry ingredients like flour, butter, and potato. Speed 2 is recommended for liquid ingredients and salad dressings. Speed 3 is ideal for mixing ingredients for pies, cookies, and bread. Speed 4 is for beating butter and sugar for cookie preparations and desserts, while Speed 5 is best for beating eggs, icings, and creams. For tasks requiring maximum power, a TURBO button is available, which provides the highest speed when pressed, provided the appliance is already set to speeds 1-4.

It is crucial to submerge the adaptors into the ingredients before turning the appliance on to prevent splashing and ensure proper mixing. The appliance should not be operated on empty. When finished, the switch must be shifted to the "0" position, and the cable removed from the power point. Adaptors can only be released by pressing the release button when the switch is in the "0" position; they are blocked from release if the switch is positioned between 1-5. For consistent results and to prevent damage, users must always use the same type of adaptor (either both beating or both kneading adaptors) and never combine them.

The manual provides specific guidance on quantities and processing durations for various tasks. For instance, yeast dough (max. 500g flour) should be kneaded for approximately 5 minutes at Degree 3. Thin sauces, creams, and soups (approx. 750g) can be mixed for 4 minutes at Degree 2. Mayonnaise (max. 3 egg yolks) takes about 3 minutes at Degree 5. Mashed potato (max. 750g) requires 4 minutes at Degree 4. Whipping whipped cream (max. 500g) and beating egg whites (max. 5 egg whites) both take about 5 and 4 minutes respectively at Degree 5. Pie pastry (approx. 750g) can be mixed for 4 minutes at Degree 3. A key tip for mixing and kneading is to start at a low speed to prevent splashing and then gradually increase the speed. Using soft margarine or butter is also recommended for easier processing.

For safety, the appliance should not be used continuously for more than 5 minutes, after which it must be turned off for a few minutes to cool down. The maximum non-stop use is 10 minutes.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of the Sencor SHM 5205 Hand Mixer. Before any cleaning or maintenance, the appliance must always be turned off by shifting the switch to the "0" position and disconnected from the power point.

The mixing and kneading adaptors require thorough cleaning after each use. They should be rinsed under hot water with dish detergent, then rinsed again with drinking water, and finally dried thoroughly with a soft tea towel. These adaptors are designed for short contact with food, up to a maximum of 4 hours.

For cleaning the motor unit/cover, a cloth slightly moistened in a weak solution of dish detergent should be used. It is critical never to submerge the motor unit in water or any other liquids, nor should it be rinsed under running water. Harsh cleaning agents such as thinners, solvents, or abrasive cleaners must not be used, as they can damage the surface of the appliance.

When the appliance is not in use, it should be stored in a dry place, out of reach of children. For storage, especially during transportation, it is recommended to use the original shipping cardboard box and packaging materials.

The manual emphasizes that users should never attempt to repair the appliance themselves. Any repairs or alignments must be entrusted to a specialized company or service to avoid electric shock and to maintain warranty validity. Damaged electric cables or plugs should be replaced by an expert service. The electric cable should be kept away from hot surfaces, sharp objects, and should not be stepped on or tripped over. It should also not hang over the edge of a table or touch hot surfaces. To disconnect the appliance from the power point, users should always pull the plug gently, not the electric cable, to prevent damage.
