Do you have a question about the Sencor SSI 0850RS and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The SENCOR SSI 0850RS is a hand garment steamer designed for household use, offering a convenient way to smooth out creases and folds on garments without an ironing board. It can also be used to refresh upholstery, furniture coverings, cushions, bed linen, mattresses, curtains, and cuddly toys, as well as to eliminate undesirable odors and certain forms of dirt. Additionally, it can brush garments or remove fibers, hair, fuzz balls, and dirt.

Function Description:

The garment steamer operates by emitting hot steam to relax fabric fibers, thereby removing wrinkles. It is suitable for a wide range of materials, including synthetic fibers (viscose, polyester), silk, wool, cotton, and flax sheets, provided the garment care label does not forbid ironing. The device features a start steaming button (A2) and an On/Off button (A7). An indicator (A5) on the garment steamer head signals heating status, flashing during heat-up and remaining permanently lit when ready for use.

The steamer is equipped with a removable water tank (A4) that can be filled with clean tap water. For areas with hard water, mixing tap water with distilled water is recommended to prevent limescale buildup and extend the appliance's lifetime. The recommended ratios are 1:1 for medium hard water, 2:1 for hard water, and 3:1 for very hard water. It is crucial never to add water softeners, vinegar, starch, perfumes, or other additives to the water, as this could damage the device. The water tank has a maximum water level mark (MAX) that should not be exceeded during filling.

The SSI 0850RS includes a swivel power cord end (A8) to limit twisting and tangling of the power cord during use. It also comes with two attachments: a brush attachment (A9) suitable for garments, pillows, drapes, blankets, etc., and a cleaning attachment (A10) for removing fibers, hair, fuzz balls, and dirt. These attachments are easily seated onto the garment steamer head (A1) via the attachment tip (A11).

For safety and convenience, the steamer incorporates an automatic shut-off function, which turns off the device if left without movement for 8 minutes, preventing accidents and saving power. A Drip Stop function prevents water from dripping out of the garment steamer head, thereby preventing stains on textiles.

  • Heat up time: 28 seconds
  • Dimensions (length x width x height): 153 mm x 110 mm x 272 mm

Usage Features:

To use the steamer, first release the water tank by holding down both release buttons (A3) and slide it out. Fill the tank using the supplied container (B2), ensuring the water level does not exceed the MAX mark. Close the filling opening cap (B1) and reinsert the water tank until it clicks into place. Before connecting to a power socket, ensure the voltage matches the rating label.

Once plugged in, press the On/Off button (A7). The heating indicator (A5) will flash during heat-up and remain steadily lit when the steamer is ready. To start steaming, press and hold the start steaming button (A2). For continuous steaming, the button can be moved downwards to lock it in the operating position and released by sliding it back up. When using for the first time, it is recommended to steam for several minutes to remove any manufacturing residues or odors.

When steaming garments, it is advised to hang them on coat hangers and pull down on the bottom part with the other hand to spread them out. Care should be taken around metal accessories like zips and buttons to avoid discoloration or corrosion. For sleeves, start at the shoulders and move downwards, simultaneously pulling the sleeve. For heavy textiles, a longer steaming process may be necessary. Always allow garments to dry fully after steaming before putting them on.

The steamer should not be used on leather, velvet, impregnated furniture, or steam-sensitive materials, as this could cause irreparable damage. It is also important never to direct steam at people, body parts, animals, plants, or electrical appliances.

Maintenance Features:

After each use, the garment steamer must be disconnected from the power socket and allowed to cool down. The water tank should be removed, emptied, and wiped clean with a damp cloth, then dried. The garment steamer head (A1) should also be cleaned with a soft, lightly dampened cloth. Abrasive cleaning products, steel wool, solvents, or aggressive substances should not be used to prevent damage to the surface.

Regular descaling is recommended to maintain optimal function, with frequency depending on water quality and usage. It is suggested to descale at least once a year or after 50 hours of operation, or whenever a reduced amount of emitted steam is noticed. Standard descaling agents based on citric acid should be used, following the instructions provided with the agent. The descaling process involves filling the water tank with the descaling agent and clean water up to the MAX level, then steaming an old piece of cloth until at least half, or ideally all, of the tank's contents are used. Afterward, the tank should be refilled with clean water, and the textile steamed again to remove any remaining descaling agent.

When storing, the cooled and emptied garment steamer should be kept in a suitable location out of reach of children, away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, excessive humidity, and overly dusty environments. Nothing should be placed on top of the stored steamer.
