Overview

The Sensata INSIGHTS CRXS is a super HD-capable, in-vehicle CCTV digital video recorder (DVR) designed for fleet operators, offering high-definition recording for up to 8 camera channels. This device provides an effective way to monitor and manage remote assets, aiding in the investigation of incidents and allegations by delivering actual video footage in the event of an incident. It enhances safety and security for the driver, fleet operator, and other road users through its efficient driving and monitoring behaviors.

Function Description:

The CRXS is a robust mobile DVR that integrates a 3-axis G-sensor, GPS, and an 8-alarm input trigger system. It features flexible and powerful storage using a solid-state drive (SSD) and an SD card for backup. The device is designed to be slim and compact, with dimensions of approximately 7" x 7" x 2". It connects directly to the vehicle's battery power and ignition for fully automated operation. Optionally, a dashboard-mounted LCD display can be connected to provide the driver with a real-time 360° view of the interior and exterior of the vehicle.

Usage Features:

  • Installation:
    • The device should be installed on a flat surface in the vehicle after turning off the engine.
    • An SD card must be inserted into the memory slot and locked.
    • The CRXS is then inserted into a locking case or secured with provided adhesive.
    • Cameras are installed using 3M dual-sided adhesive or hard mounting screws and connected to the CRXS via camera input cables.
    • GPS antenna should be routed to a location with a clear sky view, away from large buildings or areas with electromagnetic waves that interfere with GPS signals.
    • Power cable wiring connects to the vehicle's battery (BAT+), ground (BAT-), and ignition (IGN+).
    • Optional accessories like backup power devices, remote panic buttons, Wi-Fi/cellular modems, and LCD monitors can be integrated.
  • Operation:
    • Upon ignition power-up, an LED sequence (green, orange, red) indicates the boot-up process.
    • The POWER LED illuminates green immediately, followed by a system check.
    • Once operational, the REC LED illuminates orange, indicating recording. This typically takes about a minute, but can take up to 5 minutes if a reboot is needed.
    • The unit has a built-in power backup system that charges for about 30 seconds before recording begins.
  • LED Indicators:
    • POWER LED: Solid green when powered ON.
    • REC LED: Solid orange when recording.
    • ALARM LED: Solid red indicates failures (missing camera input, bad SSD). Blinking red indicates a connected camera is not receiving a view signal.
    • LAN LED: Solid orange when connected to the network. Flashing indicates network/server error.

Maintenance Features:

  • Troubleshooting:
    • REC LED off: Indicates SSD is not properly inserted.
    • CRXS Alarm LED blinking (red): Indicates a connected camera is not receiving a view signal; check camera connection.
    • CRXS Alarm LED solid (red): Suggests a problem with camera connection or data storage; contact installer or support.
    • CRXS LAN LED blinking or off: Indicates SIM card is not registered with the cellular network; verify SIM insertion, remove/reinsert, and cycle power if needed.
  • Security: The main cover of the CRXS can be locked using external lock keys after installation.
