Overview

The Sensor Switch WSX 2P Family is a series of wall switch occupancy sensors designed for controlling lighting based on human presence. These devices integrate passive infrared (PIR) detection for motion and, in some models, dual technology (Microphonics™) for enhanced occupancy sensing.

Function Description:

The WSX 2P family of sensors automatically turns lights on when occupancy is detected and off after a period of inactivity. They offer various operational modes to suit different application needs:

  • Occupancy Time Delay: Configurable time period (from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, with additional settings available) the sensor keeps lights on after the last detected occupancy.
  • On Mode: Allows selection between "Automatic On" (lights turn on automatically with occupancy), "Manual On" (requires a button press to turn lights on), and "Reduced Turn-On" (sensor only detects large motions, ignoring weaker signals like reflections).
  • Switch Modes: Dictates the functionality of the switch button. Options include "Override Off" (button turns lights off and keeps them off until pressed again), "Switch Disable" (prevents button from turning lights on), "Predictive Mode" (automatically determines if a user has left the room after lights are switched off by monitoring the space after a button press), and "Predictive Mode with Expiration" (similar to Predictive Mode but continues to monitor the space and reverts to auto-on after a period of no occupancy).
  • Photocell Set-Point: Prevents lights from turning on initially if ambient light levels are above a set threshold (from 0.5 fc to 64 fc, or disabled). Once lights are on, they remain on until the occupancy time delay expires.
  • LED Operation: Configurable LED behavior to indicate occupancy, relay status, or disabled.
  • Minimum On Time: Sets a required initial time for lamps to be on after each switch-on, regardless of occupancy status (from 10 minutes to 60 minutes).
  • Manual On Grace Period: Time period after lights automatically turn off during which they can be reactivated by motion in Manual On (Semi-Auto) mode (from 0 seconds to 15 seconds).
  • Dual Technology (Microphonics™): Available in -PDT versions, this feature enhances detection by monitoring human activity through sound. Responsiveness can be set to Normal, Medium, Low, or Off, with an additional "Phase Off" option.
  • Microphone Grace Period: Time period after lights are automatically turned off during which they can be reactivated by voice (from 0 seconds to 60 seconds).
  • Predictive Mode Exit Time: Time period after manually switching lights off for an occupant to leave the space (from 5 seconds to 30 seconds).
  • Predictive Mode Grace Time: Time period after Predictive Mode Exit Time that the sensor rescans the room for remaining occupants (from 0 seconds to 60 seconds).
  • Restore Factory Defaults: Resets all functions to their original factory settings.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Physical Size: 2.74"H x 1.68"W x 1.63"D (6.96 cm x 4.27 cm x 4.14 cm), excluding ground strap.
  • Weight: 5 oz.
  • Mounting: Single Gang Switch Box, at a height of 30-48 inches (76.2-121.9 cm).
  • Material: Silicone-free.
  • Compliance: RoHS compliant.
  • Maximum Load / Pole (Relay): 800 W @ 120 VAC, 1200 W @ 277 VAC, 1500 W @ 347 VAC.
  • Minimum Load: None.
  • Motor Load: 1/4 HP.
  • Frequency: 50/60 Hz (timers are 1.2x for 50 Hz).
  • Operating Temperature: Standard: 14° to 122° F (-10° to 50° C); LT Option (PIR): -40° to 122° F (-40° to 50° C); LT Option (PDT): -4° to 122° F (-20° to 50° C).
  • Relative Humidity: Standard: 20 to 75% non-condensing; LT Option: 20 to 90% non-condensing (electronics coated for corrosion resistance).
  • Coverage Pattern:
    • Small motion (e.g., hand movements) detection up to 20 ft (6.10 m), covering approximately 625 ft².
    • Large motion (e.g., walking) detection greater than 36 ft (10.97 m), covering approximately 2025 ft².
    • Wall-to-wall PIR coverage.
    • Units with -PDT (Passive Dual Technology) provide overlapping detection over the complete PIR coverage area, utilizing advanced filtering to prevent non-occupant noises from keeping lights on.

Usage Features:

  • Programming: Operational settings are changed via a push-button sequence. The device provides visual feedback (LED flashes) to confirm setting changes.
  • Wiring Flexibility: The product is pre-configured for wiring without a neutral (ground only). However, it can be easily converted to neutral wiring by following a three-step process: removing a yellow label, loosening screws and removing a metal link, and then connecting neutral to the silver screw and ground to the green screw.
  • Dual Relay: Supports control of two separate loads.
  • Wiring Color Key: Clearly defined wiring for 120/277 VAC (Black for Line 1 Input/Load 1 Output, Blue for Line 2 Input/Load 2 Output) and 347 VAC (-347 Option) where red wires replace black wires. Black and Blue wires can be reversed for Load 1 and Load 2 respectively.
  • Power Source: The unit draws power from either line connection. When switching 277 VAC or 347 VAC on both relays, the line inputs must be of the same phase.

Maintenance Features:

  • Factory Default Reset: A dedicated programming option allows users to restore all functions to their original factory settings, simplifying troubleshooting or re-configuration.
  • 5-Year Warranty: Sensor Switch provides a 60-month warranty against defects in manufacture and workmanship, offering repair or replacement of returned products.
